4490 5647 d 1 h decky /trunk/kernel/ remove redundant index_t and count_t types (which were always quite ambiguous and not actually needed)
4274 5697 d 23 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ fix compilation in non-SMP configurations
4254 5704 d 22 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ Address issues with IRQ notifications.
4148 5724 d 10 h decky /trunk/ as kernel little brother drivers are not needed anymore, the device numbers do not have to be correlated between kernel and uspace in any way
introduce new syscall sys_device_assign_devno() for generating system-wide unique device numbers for uspace

3973 5743 d 9 h decky /trunk/kernel/ kernel memory management revisited (phase 2): map physical memory according to zones
- ia32: register reserved and ACPI zones
- pareas are now used only for mapping of present physical memory (hw_area() is gone)
- firmware zones and physical addresses outside any zones are allowed to be mapped generally
- fix nasty antient bug in zones_insert_zone()

3968 5744 d 23 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ddi/ Fix argument order.
3964 5746 d 7 h decky /trunk/kernel/ switch between the preference of kernel/uspace IRQ hash table
3950 5749 d 1 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ddi/ Fix UP builds.
3947 5749 d 3 h jermar /trunk/ This is the evil commit. In particular, it does:

- introduces more powerful pseudo code for userspace IRQ top-half handlers
- changes the internals of IRQ dispatching
- simplifies the kernel's i8042 driver
- adapts the uspace i8042 driver to make use of the new pseudocode
- breaks all other architectures except ia32
- breaks almost all existing drivers
- breaks switching between uspace and kernel drivers

3940 5750 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/ make hw_area API more generic
this allows mapping of EGA VRAM on ia32/amd64

3908 5754 d 2 h decky /trunk/ overhaul pareas: use one single physical area for the physical address space not belonging to physical memory
3906 5754 d 21 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ IRQ handlers are using one superfluous argument and an unused elipsis.
On the other hand, IRQ claim functions would need to be passed the instance
argument.

3655 5833 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Add additional members to the irq_t structure so that an interrupt-driven driver
does not need to know how to clear the level interrupt. The z8530 was modified
in this way and is much more generic. The ns16550 driver has also been modified,
but awaits testing. The sparc64 interrupt mapping and dispatch code is now using
the new info and calls the clear-interrupt-routine itself.

2218 6434 d 21 h decky /trunk/kernel/ support the possibility to send EOI or Interrupt Acknowledgement
prior to processing the interrupt
(this is essential on some architectures to prevent preemption deadlock)

2141 6445 d 21 h jermar /trunk/ The Ultimate Solution To Illegal Virtual Aliases.
It is better to avoid them completely than to fight them.
Switch the sparc64 port to 16K pages. The TLBs and TSBs
continue to operate with 8K pages only. Page tables and
other generic parts operate with 16K pages.

Because the MMU doesn't support 16K directly, each 16K
page is emulated by a pair of 8K pages. With 16K pages,
illegal aliases cannot be created in 16K D-cache.

2117 6496 d 6 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ddi/ explicit typecast
2116 6496 d 6 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ddi/ explicit typecast
2107 6497 d 23 h jermar /trunk/ When clock() is called by an external interrupt dispatched by the IRQ dispatcher,
no spinlock can be held or the kernel will not be preemptive. This fixes Ticket #24.

Formating and indentation fixes.

2089 6504 d 7 h decky /trunk/ huge type system cleanup
remove cyclical type dependencies across multiple header files
many minor coding style fixes

2071 6515 d 0 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
