4605 5665 d 11 h decky /branches/snapshot/ add task snapshoting branch
4405 5709 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ Do not test the same condition twice.
4252 5752 d 5 h decky /trunk/kernel/ move event notification to the ipc directory (where it probably belogs to, side-by-side to IRQ notifications)
cleanup the notification code a little bit (there is probably no need to allocate two structured dynamically)

4173 5766 d 3 h jermar /trunk/ Revive kernel notifications.
3476 5945 d 6 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ Add comments documenting our treatment of the task's active call counter.
3449 5952 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ Fix task active call accounting for IPC_M_HUNGUP calls.
3445 5953 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Rename ipc/ipc_kbox.c to ipc/kbox.c.
3438 5953 d 12 h svoboda /trunk/ Merge syscall tracer (trace) and relevant part of udebug interface from tracing to trunk.
3395 5961 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Kernel's ipc_data_t and uspace's ipc_call_t must be in sync.

This commit fixes a problem introduced in revision 3362, when
ipc_data_t was enlarged by the caller_phone member. This resulted
in sys_ipc_wait_for_call() passing larger structure to uspace
than requested, leading to a random damage of userspace memory.

3394 5962 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ cstyle for ipc.c
3370 5974 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Synchronous IPC must be interruptible.
3363 5977 d 6 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ Demasquerade the caller phone during ipc_answer_n() rather than in
ipc_wait_for_call().

3362 5977 d 6 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Fix processing of answers to forwarded masqueraded calls.
3186 6039 d 6 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Support for active mutexes. Active mutexes implement busy waiting, pretty much
in the same way as spinlocks, but can be passed to condition variables, which is
the motivation for this enhancement.

3184 6040 d 9 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ Fix a scary two-year old bug: do not attempt to initialize a call structure if
its allocation failed.

3104 6056 d 17 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Declare arguments for memstr.h operations as pointers instead of uintptr_t.
3090 6059 d 9 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ revert coding style change
3054 6059 d 10 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ proper printf formatting
3020 6065 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Turn phone->lock into mutex.
2802 6118 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Fix initialization of answerbox->task in ipc_answerbox_init.
Contributed by Jiri Svoboda.

2662 6222 d 3 h jermar /trunk/ Add support for IPC_M_DATA_READ calls.
2637 6241 d 4 h cejka /trunk/ Extended IPC_M_CONNECT_TO_ME to use 3 user defined parameters.
Phone identifier is passed in ARG5.

2623 6251 d 10 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Introduce the IPC_FF_ROUTE_FROM_ME forwarding flag.
2622 6251 d 10 h jermar /trunk/ Add mode argument to IPC forward.
This argument can be used to modify the way forward behaves.

2601 6264 d 7 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ Fix and improve two IPC related comments.
2494 6387 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Implement a new mechanism for copying data between two address spaces based on
IPC. New system method IPC_M_DATA_SEND is introduced. The implementation is
generic and does not make use of any possible architecture optimizations such as
direct copy from one address space to another.

2472 6411 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ Some left-over stuff from the last commit (IPC cleanup and improved
comments.)

2471 6411 d 5 h jermar /trunk/ Greatly improve comments in the IPC layer.
Now I think I finally start to understand our IPC internals :-)

2310 6452 d 6 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Cleanup the waitq_wakeup() interface.
Replace numeric constants (i.e. 0)
and boolean constants (i.e. false) with
more readable WAKEUP_FIRST. Also change the
type of the second argument of waitq_wakeup()
to a newly introduced type wakeup_mode_t.

Fix behaviour of waitq_wakeup() in case
that WAKEUP_ALL semantics is required
but no threads are sleeping in the wait
queue. This is a similar fix to that of
Jan Hudecek committed in the RCU branch,
but, IMHO, is more straightforward and
also doesn't eat up previous missed
wakeups.

2216 6482 d 4 h decky /trunk/ make thread ID 64 bit (task ID is 64 bit already)
cleanup thread syscalls

2183 6484 d 8 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Continue to de-oversynchronize the kernel.
- replace as->refcount with an atomic counter; accesses to this
reference counter are not to be done when the as->lock mutex is held;
this gets us rid of mutex_lock_active();

Remove the possibility of a deadlock between TLB shootdown and asidlock.
- get rid of mutex_lock_active() on as->lock
- when locking the asidlock spinlock, always do it conditionally and with
preemption disabled; in the unsuccessful case, enable interrupts and try again
- there should be no deadlock between TLB shootdown and the as->lock mutexes
- PLEASE REVIEW !!!

Add DEADLOCK_PROBE's to places where we have spinlock_trylock() loops.

2071 6562 d 4 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
1933 6654 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Implement efficient IPC notification cleanup.
1923 6655 d 4 h jermar /trunk/ Replace the old IRQ dispatcher and IPC notifier with new implementation.
Note that all architectures except for sparc64 are now broken
and don't even compile.

1787 6752 d 6 h decky / move kernel/trunk, uspace/trunk and boot/trunk to trunk/kernel, trunk/uspace and trunk/boot
1780 6759 d 7 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Replace old __u?? types with respective C99 variants (e.g. uint32_t, int64_t, uintptr_t etc.).
1757 6773 d 12 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Cleanup of comments.
1735 6775 d 14 h decky /kernel/trunk/ make kernel prints case consistent
1708 6777 d 13 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Fix some broken doxygen comments.
1705 6779 d 13 h cejka /kernel/trunk/ Added file with modules definitions and descriptions.
We are able to change modules order and their description in one place.
