4439 6118 d 6 h trochtova /branches/dd/ dd branch synchronized with trunk (revision 4438)
4425 6125 d 4 h svoboda /trunk/ Move ramdisk under bd.
4416 6125 d 16 h decky /trunk/uspace/ improve devmap interface
remove spared device

4410 6127 d 2 h svoboda /trunk/uspace/srv/rd/ Fix type definition.
4401 6128 d 4 h svoboda /trunk/uspace/ C binding for devmap. Gets rid of duplicate code.
4400 6128 d 6 h svoboda /trunk/uspace/ Rename ramdisk protocol -> block device protocol.
4374 6135 d 4 h jermar /trunk/uspace/srv/rd/ Create a second RD device called "spared".
This is for testing purposes.

4264 6167 d 2 h svoboda /trunk/uspace/ Nuke strcpy() and strcmp().
4005 6205 d 6 h decky /trunk/uspace/srv/rd/ blocking connection to device mapper
3908 6219 d 5 h decky /trunk/ overhaul pareas: use one single physical area for the physical address space not belonging to physical memory
3254 6411 d 9 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ Stop using fixed size BLOCK_SIZE in the ramdisk task and allow each client to negotiate its own
maximum block size. Allow the individual transfers to use block sizes smaller and equal to the
negotiated maximum block size.

3085 6477 d 8 h decky /trunk/uspace/srv/rd/ devmap support, small fixes
2678 6632 d 6 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ The IPC_M_SHARE_* and IPC_M_DATA_* calls pass through 3 stages. Rename the send,
receive and deliver wrappers to names ending with 'start', 'receive' and
'finalize', respectively. This should make it clearer for dummies.

2677 6632 d 7 h jermar /trunk/ Rename IPC_M_AS_AREA_SEND to IPC_M_SHARE_OUT. Rename IPC_M_AS_AREA_RECV to
IPC_M_SHARE_IN. Provide user-friendly wrappers for these methods so that even
dummies can get it right. Some applications using simpler protocols still use
these methods directly.

2637 6659 d 4 h cejka /trunk/ Extended IPC_M_CONNECT_TO_ME to use 3 user defined parameters.
Phone identifier is passed in ARG5.

2619 6673 d 2 h jermar /trunk/ Modify ipc_answer_*() to make use of all six syscall arguments. The recommended
means of answering calls is via the ipc_answer_m() macros (where m denotes the
number of return arguments) that automatically decide between the fast register
version or the slow universal version of ipc_answer().

2518 6742 d 3 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ One occurrence of the left-over term 'pseudo thread' replaced with 'fibril' in
the rd task.

Start the vfs task. Now it is dummy, but integrated into the sources.

2479 6823 d 10 h jermar /trunk/ New, better-structured, directory layout for uspace.
2478 6825 d 6 h jermar /trunk/uspace/rd/ Add sanity checks for reads and writes that occur past the end of the
ramdisk image.

2475 6826 d 3 h jermar /trunk/uspace/rd/ Improve the rd task (not tested):
- allow more connections
- support write operation
- support concurrent requests
- sanity checks
- add comments

Please review.

2471 6829 d 4 h jermar /trunk/ Greatly improve comments in the IPC layer.
Now I think I finally start to understand our IPC internals :-)

2449 6844 d 15 h decky /trunk/uspace/rd/ remove unnecessary includes
2445 6845 d 9 h decky /trunk/ initial merge of branches/fs
(not finished, huge cleanup is needed)

2141 6911 d 0 h jermar /trunk/ The Ultimate Solution To Illegal Virtual Aliases.
It is better to avoid them completely than to fight them.
Switch the sparc64 port to 16K pages. The TLBs and TSBs
continue to operate with 8K pages only. Page tables and
other generic parts operate with 16K pages.

Because the MMU doesn't support 16K directly, each 16K
page is emulated by a pair of 8K pages. With 16K pages,
illegal aliases cannot be created in 16K D-cache.

2071 6980 d 3 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
2015 7019 d 3 h jermar /trunk/ Rework support for virtually indexed cache.
Instead of repeatedly flushing the data cache, which was a huge overkill, refuse to create an illegal address alias
in the kernel (again) and allocate appropriate page color in userspace instead. Extend the detection also to
SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP syscall.

Add support for tracking physical memory areas mappable by SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP.

Lots of coding style changes.

2012 7022 d 1 h jermar /trunk/ Eliminate confusion between SYS_MAP_PHYSMEM and sys_physmem_map.
The syscall is to be called SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP from now on and the functions that participate in its implementation are
called *physmem_map().

2005 7028 d 8 h decky /trunk/ update rd
1999 7030 d 13 h decky /trunk/ start RAM disk support
