4647 5644 d 11 h jermar /branches/arm/ Branch out a new arm branch.
4556 5671 d 21 h decky /trunk/ define endianess externally to be able to exactly specify whether we are using UTF-32LE or UTF-32BE
quit messing with BOM in UTF-32

4047 5774 d 9 h jermar /trunk/ Improve the configuration file.

- Support for easy configuration with sane defaults.

- Fix the ambiguous MACHINE variable by introducing the PROCESSOR variable.

- Eliminate some unnecessarily detailed questions by providing defaults for the
Serengeti machine.

- Introduce CONFIG_HID_IN and CONFIG_HID_OUT variables. They help to limit the
number of offered HID devices. In the future, they can be also used to
configure the way how the serial controller devices are connected to the
keyboard / serial line modules on some platforms where we can't autodetect.

4015 5778 d 16 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/ rename ia32_cboot() to arch_pre_main() and move it to ia32.c (to be in line with other platforms)
3984 5780 d 10 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ The ia32-specific boot code is written completely in assembly for no reason. Start fixing this. For now rewrite the copying of multiboot info to C.
3936 5789 d 13 h decky /trunk/ dash is not a safe character for C preprocessor, use underscore instead
3879 5797 d 9 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ simplify configuration in Makefiles
3800 5822 d 9 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ simplify compile options
3779 5836 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Only one kernel EGA driver to rule them all.
3485 5927 d 8 h jermar /trunk/ Support for SYSENTER on ia32.
3369 5966 d 12 h decky /trunk/ configurable cross-compiler prefix (using CROSS_PREFIX)
3226 5998 d 17 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/ fix no-mmx option
3179 6034 d 12 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Introduce the notion of FPU_NO_CFLAGS and separate building of test/fpu
objects and building the rest of kernel objects. Now, amd64 and ia32 can
enable things such as SSE selectively for the test/fpu/*.

3173 6036 d 8 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/ Don't build the ia32 kernel with MMX/SSE/3DNOW enabled. This was causing
problems with gcc 4.3.1 which generated MMX aided code in a context that
didn't allow this.

2774 6131 d 20 h cejka /trunk/kernel/arch/ Context.s renamed to context.S for ia32 and fixed links for ia32xen.
Added asm macros for context save/restore and offset definitions.

2725 6169 d 15 h decky /trunk/kernel/ remove config.memory_size, get_memory_size() and memory_init.{c|d}
the amount of available memory can be calculated from the sizes of the zones
add FRAMES2SIZE, SIZE2KB and SIZE2MB functions/macros (code readability)

2599 6257 d 6 h decky /trunk/kernel/ replace prescott cpu type with currently more known category
2460 6414 d 9 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Better infrastructure for building with different compilers.
Separate ICC_CFLAGS added, SUNCC_CFLAGS extended.

2459 6414 d 12 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Fix a bug in ia32 and ia32xen Sun Studio builds.
In arch Makefile.inc, SUNCC_CFLAGS can only be appended via the += operator.

2454 6415 d 8 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ A bit of infrastructure for building with different compilers.
CFLAGS split into GCC_CFLAGS and SUNCC_CFLAGS.
As of now, there are no separate ICC_CFLAGS, but can be easily added.

2438 6420 d 8 h decky /trunk/ update for new compiler configuration scheme
2125 6529 d 9 h decky /trunk/ experimental support for Objective C
(disabled by default)

2071 6554 d 9 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
1844 6715 d 11 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Add an option to compile the sparc64 kernel for Ultra 5 or Enterprise E6500.
Basic keyboard support (polling) based on ns16550 serial port (deployed on Ultra).

1842 6715 d 16 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ i8042 and z8530 separated, the tree compiles again.
Now there is some duplicated code in i8042.c and z8530.c,
but that can be eliminated in slower pace.

1838 6720 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Add scan code map for Sun keyboard.
1802 6739 d 4 h decky /trunk/ cleanup and unify the build system
1787 6744 d 11 h decky / move kernel/trunk, uspace/trunk and boot/trunk to trunk/kernel, trunk/uspace and trunk/boot
1287 6811 d 19 h vana /kernel/trunk/ ia32 VESA FB support
1196 6830 d 16 h cejka /kernel/trunk/ Printf ported back from uspace to kernel.
Printf calls changed to match new conventions.

1191 6832 d 20 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Kernel support for SYS_ENABLE_IOSPACE.
amd64 and ia32 provide dummy implementation thereof.

1185 6833 d 14 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Add task_create_arch() for all architectures.
1171 6834 d 20 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Initialize ARCH_THREAD_DATA on all architectures.
On ia32 and amd64 this fixes bug caused by uninitialized TLS pointer.

1106 6855 d 7 h jermar /kernel/trunk/arch/ Pass either -DCONFIG_PAGE_PT or -DCONFIG_PAGE_HT to the compiler.
1074 6860 d 17 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Ported AMD64 debugger to ia32 and enabled AS watchpoint to ia32 as well.
938 6865 d 11 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Basic support for loading ELF object files.
ia64, amd64, ia32 working.
mips32 requires some attention.

894 6878 d 12 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Move i8042 driver to genarch as it might be used by more architectures.
778 6901 d 10 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Fixed boot process not to call malloc when slab not initialized.
Added simics workaround.

756 6905 d 5 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Remove the last (i.e. 'root') argument from page_mapping_insert() and page_mapping_find().
Page table address is now extracted from the first (i.e. 'as') argument.
Add a lot of infrastructure to make the above possible.
sparc64 is now broken, most likely because of insufficient identity mapping of physical memory.

684 6928 d 14 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Move generic 4-level page table interface to genarch
and enable architectures to use different virtual memory
mechanisms (e.g. page hash tables).
Start page hash table support.
Switch ia64 and sparc64 to page hash tables.
Other architectures keep on using 4-level page table interface.
