2586 6044 d 0 h jermar /trunk/uspace/lib/libc/ Unify implementations of TLS variant I and variant II __alloc_tls() and
__free_tls_arch().

2581 6046 d 2 h jermar /trunk/uspace/lib/libc/ For architectures that make use of TLS variant II (i.e. amd64, ia32 and
sparc64), fix the way TLS and TCB is allocated. Now, TLS is allocated using
memalign() with the alignment specified in _tls_alignment. Size of TLS data
itself is rounded up to be a multiple of _tls_alignment.

2568 6071 d 16 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ Rename fibril_schedule_next_adv() to fibril_switch(). Rename
fibril_schedule_next() to fibril_yield(). Some fibril structures could be
uninitialized, set them to zero in fibril_setup(). For some fibrils, the stack
member can be NULL (e.g. every thread's first/main fibril); don't do free on
these stacks when cleaning up after a dead fibril.

2564 6071 d 16 h jermar /trunk/uspace/lib/libc/ Support for time() function.
2550 6076 d 6 h cejka /trunk/ Fixed naming convention in IPC.
2547 6076 d 9 h cejka /trunk/ Added basic support for device mapper.
2541 6077 d 10 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ Header cleanup.
Move off_t, size_t and ssize_t into sys/types.h.
Get rid off the non-standard and dummy types.h.

2531 6086 d 3 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ VFS work.
Implement VFS_REGISTER part of the protocol in the FAT file system.

IPC work.
Rename ipc_data_send_accept() to ipc_data_receive() and ipc_data_send_answer()
to ipc_data_deliver(). Introduce ipc_data_send().

2529 6087 d 5 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ Turn the empty fs service into the beginning of FAT support.
Start implementing the VFS protocol for fat.c.

2526 6089 d 8 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ VFS work.
Delve deeper into VFS_REGISTER.

2525 6089 d 9 h jermar /trunk/uspace/lib/libc/include/ Implementation of isalnum().
2524 6089 d 9 h jermar /trunk/uspace/lib/libc/include/ Implementation of isalpha().
2522 6089 d 16 h jermar /trunk/uspace/lib/libc/ Add wrappers facilitating easy use of IPC_M_DATA_SEND calls and answers.
2520 6091 d 3 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ VFS work.
Turn the dummy skeleton into a dummy skeleton that can handle connections.
There are already traces of the VFS protocol.

2486 6164 d 4 h jermar /trunk/uspace/lib/libc/ Remove duplicit and empty time.h from libc.
Move timeval functions from async.c to time.c.

2483 6168 d 7 h jermar /trunk/uspace/lib/libc/ Remove fibril_join().
We cannot guarantee our assumptions that easily.
This broken feature is removed instead of fixing because there are now users of it.

2482 6168 d 22 h jermar /trunk/ Goodbye pseudo threads, welcome fibrils.
The renaming might still be incomplete.

2481 6169 d 0 h jermar /trunk/uspace/lib/libc/ 1. Implement simple joining of pseudo threads. Only one pseudo thread is allowed to join another pseudo
thread. The restriction is that both pseudo threads must be from the same thread (this is to simplify
synchronization). The joiner doesn't free anything from the joinee. It only gets its return value. Not
tested thoroughly yet.

2. Cleanup of a dead pseudo thread is done by the next scheduled pseudo thread. Not tested thoroughly yet.

2479 6173 d 9 h jermar /trunk/ New, better-structured, directory layout for uspace.
2471 6179 d 3 h jermar /trunk/ Greatly improve comments in the IPC layer.
Now I think I finally start to understand our IPC internals :-)

2445 6195 d 8 h decky /trunk/ initial merge of branches/fs
(not finished, huge cleanup is needed)

2216 6250 d 3 h decky /trunk/ make thread ID 64 bit (task ID is 64 bit already)
cleanup thread syscalls

2209 6250 d 5 h decky /trunk/uspace/ use futex instead of pthread serialization
synchronize only output to stdout
cleanup

2188 6251 d 9 h decky /trunk/ new user space testing framework (unfinished)
2141 6260 d 23 h jermar /trunk/ The Ultimate Solution To Illegal Virtual Aliases.
It is better to avoid them completely than to fight them.
Switch the sparc64 port to 16K pages. The TLBs and TSBs
continue to operate with 8K pages only. Page tables and
other generic parts operate with 16K pages.

Because the MMU doesn't support 16K directly, each 16K
page is emulated by a pair of 8K pages. With 16K pages,
illegal aliases cannot be created in 16K D-cache.

2128 6304 d 4 h jermar /trunk/ Add arm32 architecture. The 32 suffix is used to specify that 16-bit Thumb
instructions are not used. The arm32 code is mostly composed of placeholders
that need to be replaced by real implementation. So far, the arm32 tree
only compiles. If run under GXEmul simulator, an infinit loop at the
kernel entry point will be entered.

2089 6319 d 9 h decky /trunk/ huge type system cleanup
remove cyclical type dependencies across multiple header files
many minor coding style fixes

2072 6330 d 1 h jermar /trunk/uspace/libc/ Add bcmp() to libc.
2071 6330 d 2 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
2015 6369 d 2 h jermar /trunk/ Rework support for virtually indexed cache.
Instead of repeatedly flushing the data cache, which was a huge overkill, refuse to create an illegal address alias
in the kernel (again) and allocate appropriate page color in userspace instead. Extend the detection also to
SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP syscall.

Add support for tracking physical memory areas mappable by SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP.

Lots of coding style changes.

2012 6372 d 0 h jermar /trunk/ Eliminate confusion between SYS_MAP_PHYSMEM and sys_physmem_map.
The syscall is to be called SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP from now on and the functions that participate in its implementation are
called *physmem_map().

1999 6380 d 12 h decky /trunk/ start RAM disk support
1992 6386 d 11 h decky /trunk/uspace/libc/include/ add bool.h
1923 6423 d 2 h jermar /trunk/ Replace the old IRQ dispatcher and IPC notifier with new implementation.
Note that all architectures except for sparc64 are now broken
and don't even compile.

1868 6464 d 8 h jermar /trunk/ sparc64 work.
- the syscall wrapper needs to use the "memory"
clobber specifier to prevent over-optimization.
- on sparc64, the user address space spans the whole
64-bit space and therefore the macro
USER_ADDRESS_SPACE_SIZE_ARCH, as it was defined,
overflows to 0
- stop using USER_ADDRESS_SPACE_SIZE_ARCH and define
MAX_HEAP_SIZE instead
- in our situation when kernel and user address spaces
are separate, the G (global) bit cannot be used
(there is no point in it anymore)
- add the DEBUG() macro to stdio.h; DEBUG() uses
SYS_IO and is a good debugging tool for getting
early userspace to work

1867 6465 d 2 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ Prototype for mmap() should be in mman.h.
Anyway, is there any common sense behind naming of mman.h and mman.c?

1866 6465 d 2 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ Indentation and formatting facelift for libc.
Libc headers now have C99 compliant guards.

1863 6468 d 2 h jermar /trunk/ Allow architectures to decide between inlined and not inlined version of syscall wrapper.
Implement inlined syscall wrapper for sparc64.

1787 6520 d 4 h decky / move kernel/trunk, uspace/trunk and boot/trunk to trunk/kernel, trunk/uspace and trunk/boot
1781 6527 d 5 h jermar /uspace/trunk/ Replace old __u?? types with respective C99 variants (e.g. uint32_t, int64_t, uintptr_t etc.).
