2465 6186 d 6 h jermar /trunk/ Merge arm32 into trunk.
2462 6188 d 1 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Replace gcc-specific __FUNCTION__ with C99 __func__.
suncc's xregs=no%float can be used only on sparc64.

2460 6188 d 1 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Better infrastructure for building with different compilers.
Separate ICC_CFLAGS added, SUNCC_CFLAGS extended.

2459 6188 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Fix a bug in ia32 and ia32xen Sun Studio builds.
In arch Makefile.inc, SUNCC_CFLAGS can only be appended via the += operator.

2458 6188 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/mips32/ Fix mips32 build script.
Replace CFLAGS with GCC_CFLAGS.

2457 6188 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32xen/src/smp/ Fix ia32xen so that it can be built.
2455 6188 d 23 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Some non-C files (e.g. .S and linker scripts) must be still "compiled" with gcc and GCC_CFLAGS.
2454 6189 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ A bit of infrastructure for building with different compilers.
CFLAGS split into GCC_CFLAGS and SUNCC_CFLAGS.
As of now, there are no separate ICC_CFLAGS, but can be easily added.

2453 6189 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ More suncc fixes.
- remove more empty declarations
- add options to turn errors on empty structs into warnings and options to
silence these warnings

2452 6189 d 7 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ More suncc fixes.
- Removed extra semicolons after function declaration.
- Sun Studio recognizes only C99 __func__ and no gcc-specific __FUNCTION__.
In this case, a simple -D option can fix the problem.

2451 6190 d 1 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ JoinMe -> Lingering
2449 6192 d 12 h decky /trunk/uspace/rd/ remove unnecessary includes
2447 6193 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/main/ Split accidently joined lines.
2446 6193 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ More efficient and simpler task termination.

Based on the assumption, that after its creation, only the task itself can create more threads for itself,
the last thread with userspace context to execute thread_exit() will perform futex and IPC cleanup. When
the task has no threads, it is destroyed. Both the cleanup and destruction is controlled by reference
counting.

As for userspace threads, even though there could be a global garbage collector for joining threads, it is
much simpler if the uinit thread detaches itself before switching to userspace.

task_kill() is now an idempotent operation. It just instructs the threads within a task to exit.

Change in the name of a thread state: Undead -> JoinMe.

2445 6193 d 7 h decky /trunk/ initial merge of branches/fs
(not finished, huge cleanup is needed)

2444 6193 d 21 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ First fixes for suncc support.
It is going to be a long way...

2443 6193 d 22 h jermar /trunk/ sscc -> suncc
2442 6193 d 23 h jermar /trunk/ Add dummy option for Sun Studio C Compiler.
For each architecture, offer only compilers that support the target.

2441 6193 d 23 h decky /trunk/kernel/ fix ICC compilation
2440 6194 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Fix the problem with sys_thread_create() by splitting the create and attach functionality of
thread_create(). Now it is possible to specify a flag that will cause thread_create() to only allocate and
initialize the thread structure. A call to thread_attach() will make the thread visible to the system.
This arrangement makes it easier to undo creation of a thread in case of a failure in sys_thread_create().

2439 6194 d 0 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/src/ fix ICC compilation
2438 6194 d 0 h decky /trunk/ update for new compiler configuration scheme
2437 6194 d 0 h decky /trunk/ experimental support for ICC
(the sources has to be modified to avoid ICC compiler warnings)

2436 6195 d 1 h jermar /trunk/ Fix two memory leaks.

In kernel, kernel_uarg structure needs to be deallocated when a thread
with userspace context is destroyed.

In userspace, the return value of the SYS_THREAD_CREATE must be checked
for error conditions and in case of error, uarg and stack must be freed
up.

2359 6207 d 11 h jermar /trunk/ Improve comments for the IPC subsystem.
Fix formatting and indentation.

2321 6215 d 6 h decky /trunk/ keep mouse state in i8042_grab, unify keyboard and mouse IRQ handler
(this fixes ticket #12)

2319 6215 d 10 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/console/ run mcall only on active CPUs
2317 6215 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/include/ remove outstanding move
2316 6215 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/include/ remove forgotten movs
2314 6215 d 23 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/include/ allow to compile with -O0
2310 6218 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Cleanup the waitq_wakeup() interface.
Replace numeric constants (i.e. 0)
and boolean constants (i.e. false) with
more readable WAKEUP_FIRST. Also change the
type of the second argument of waitq_wakeup()
to a newly introduced type wakeup_mode_t.

Fix behaviour of waitq_wakeup() in case
that WAKEUP_ALL semantics is required
but no threads are sleeping in the wait
queue. This is a similar fix to that of
Jan Hudecek committed in the RCU branch,
but, IMHO, is more straightforward and
also doesn't eat up previous missed
wakeups.

2302 6221 d 3 h decky /trunk/ force VGA palette to 3:2:3 palette on 8 bpp modes
(this fixes ticket #33)

2301 6221 d 7 h decky /trunk/uspace/fb/ copy proper portion of viewport on screen border
(fixes ticket #34)

2285 6230 d 10 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/proc/ Formatting and indentation fixes.
2275 6235 d 2 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ add fancy uptime kconsole command
2272 6236 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Indentation and formatting fixes.
2268 6237 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Document and assert proper usage of THREAD_FLAG_WIRED.
Original patch by Jan Hudecek.

2267 6238 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/mm/ Fix indentation.
2266 6238 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/mm/ Add few assertions to tsb.c and clean it up a little bit.
2252 6240 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/mm/ Move one MEMBAR instruction from a delay slot,
which is, due to SF Erratum #51, a potentionally
dangerous place for a MEMBAR to be.
