4638 5421 d 20 h rimsky /branches/sparc/kernel/ SMP on Niagara made working: debugged the problem with the 'non-deterministic' symptoms, implemented the IPI mechanism.
4433 5468 d 18 h rimsky /branches/sparc/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Fixed a TSB problem.
4383 5481 d 22 h rimsky /branches/sparc/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Fixed instruction access exception and data access exception in the trap table. Added new traps defined by UltraSPARC Architecture 2007 (which UltraSPARC T2 follows).
4369 5485 d 16 h rimsky /branches/sparc/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Kernel stack and userspace window buffer pointers are stored in scratchpad registers instead of memory.
4129 5542 d 12 h rimsky /branches/sparc/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Implemented missing features in Niagara memory management, minor cleanup.
4068 5546 d 14 h rimsky /branches/sparc/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/trap/sun4v/ Fixed a stupid bug.
4064 5547 d 14 h rimsky /branches/sparc/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/trap/sun4v/ Workaround for the bug which usually caused rewriting saved register window data on the uspace stack. More investigation needed.
3993 5554 d 13 h rimsky /branches/sparc/kernel/ Implemented preemptible trap handler for userspace (including syscalls - did not forget enabling interrupts for them) and the ralated stuff. Implemented handlers of instruction/data MMU miss/protection. Now some userspace tasks are run; there are, however, still some bugs causing unexpected data MMU misses.
3863 5576 d 13 h rimsky /branches/sparc/ Simics machine: modifications needed to run userspace (the next step will be to implement the trap handler for uspace); real machine: small fixes, after them the machine passes some parts of the initialization, but fails to determine CPU frequency (probably due to a different format of Machine Description).
3862 5579 d 14 h rimsky /branches/sparc/kernel/ Changed the structure of header files, which have sun4u and sun4v versions. Implemented some sun4v TSB functions.
3835 5584 d 13 h rimsky /branches/sparc/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Niagara: Implemented (and debugged) installing identity mapping for kernel. Now all the kernel tests pass on Simics.
3801 5596 d 15 h rimsky /branches/sparc/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/trap/sun4v/ Minor fixes in the preemptible trap handler.
3798 5597 d 14 h rimsky /branches/sparc/kernel/ Implemented preemptible trap handler for sun4v for trapping from kernel (not userspace). Not properly tested/debugged yet. HelenOS now reaches the as_install_arch function (where it, of course, fails).
3770 5612 d 14 h rimsky /branches/sparc/ Working on Niagara port - TLB initialization, MMU fault status area initialization, hypercall enhancement, modified tick.c so that the (hyperprivileged) TICK register does not have to be accessed. Now the initialization phase proceeds, but some parts of it are omitted for now (e.g. CPU initialization).
3743 5619 d 23 h rimsky /branches/sparc/ Started to implement support for sun4v. Bootloader adapted to autodetect the architecture (sun4u, sun4v). Some generic sparc64 kernel files split into sun4u and sun4v versions (but the sun4u is still the default in many cases - in order to keep the code compilable). Implemented taking over the MMU. Implemented routines for performing the hypervisor API calls. Implemented a trivial standard output driver. HelenOS banner can now be printed from the kernel on Niagara.
3665 5643 d 13 h rimsky /branches/sparc/ Merged latest trunk changes into the sparc brach.
3493 5689 d 15 h rimsky /branches/sparc/ More changes making the code US-III-conformant (mainly in mm).
3492 5692 d 17 h rimsky /branches/sparc/ Changes in trunk merged into the sparc branch. SILO's ramdisk issue solved by the CONFIG_RD_EXTERNAL option.
3489 5696 d 17 h rimsky /branches/sparc/ More files made conform the US-III specification. (Changes concern mainly TSB.)
3343 5748 d 19 h decky /branches/sparc/ add sparc branch
3071 5825 d 21 h decky /trunk/kernel/ reflect changes in generic code

2610 6025 d 20 h jermar /trunk/ Support for six syscall arguments for sparc64.
There is a minor stability issue which needs to be fixed (kernel panics upon entering kconsole from the
console task).

2462 6188 d 16 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Replace gcc-specific __FUNCTION__ with C99 __func__.
suncc's xregs=no%float can be used only on sparc64.

2141 6259 d 12 h jermar /trunk/ The Ultimate Solution To Illegal Virtual Aliases.
It is better to avoid them completely than to fight them.
Switch the sparc64 port to 16K pages. The TLBs and TSBs
continue to operate with 8K pages only. Page tables and
other generic parts operate with 16K pages.

Because the MMU doesn't support 16K directly, each 16K
page is emulated by a pair of 8K pages. With 16K pages,
illegal aliases cannot be created in 16K D-cache.

2134 6260 d 16 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Reworked handling of illegal virtual aliases caused by frame reuse.
We moved the incomplete handling from backend's frame method to
backend's page_fault method. The page_fault method is the one that
can create an illegal alias if it writes the userspace frame using
kernel address with a different page color than the page to which is
this frame mapped in userspace. When we detect this, we do D-cache
shootdown on all processors (!!!).

If we add code that accesses userspace memory from kernel address
space, we will have to check for illegal virtual aliases at all such
places.

I tested this on a 4-way simulated E6500 and a real-world Ultra 5,
which has unfortunatelly only one processor.

This solves ticket #26.

2089 6317 d 23 h decky /trunk/ huge type system cleanup
remove cyclical type dependencies across multiple header files
many minor coding style fixes

2071 6328 d 15 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
2058 6355 d 1 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/ Improve comments.
2055 6356 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/ sparc64 work:
- No need to lock kernel stack and userspace window buffer into DTLB.

2054 6356 d 14 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Fix important comment in kernel/arch/sparc64/src/proc/scheduler.c.

Improve framebuffer code.

Formatting and indentation fixes.

2015 6367 d 16 h jermar /trunk/ Rework support for virtually indexed cache.
Instead of repeatedly flushing the data cache, which was a huge overkill, refuse to create an illegal address alias
in the kernel (again) and allocate appropriate page color in userspace instead. Extend the detection also to
SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP syscall.

Add support for tracking physical memory areas mappable by SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP.

Lots of coding style changes.

2009 6372 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Initial support for handling illegal virtual aliases on sparc64.
1977 6390 d 12 h jermar /trunk/ Fix bad indentation in ofw.c

sparc64 work:
o Fix copyright in main.c
o Move code from unused parts of the trap table.

1946 6418 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ sparc64 work.
- Improve panic screen on data_access_exception
by dumping contents of DSFSR and DSFAR.
- Change the FHC enable interrupt code to only
set the IMAP_V bit.

1923 6421 d 15 h jermar /trunk/ Replace the old IRQ dispatcher and IPC notifier with new implementation.
Note that all architectures except for sparc64 are now broken
and don't even compile.

1922 6422 d 23 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ More IRQ stuff.
Modify the IRQ hash table functions to support lookup based on inr and devno.
Add method member to irq_t.

1920 6424 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Move the new IRQ redirector to ddi/.
Add function for assigning unique device numbers.
Change sparc64/drivers/kbd.c to assign devno to keyboard.

1919 6424 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Prototypical implementation of new IRQ redirector in sparc64.
The new code can support shared IRQs in kernel (and multiple IRQs per device).
Userspace support is yet to be written.
The only architecture that uses this code is actually sparc64 only.

1917 6428 d 17 h jermar /trunk/ sparc64 work:
- hw_map() can now support up to 8M requests
- CPU stacks are now locked in DTLB of the respective processor
- kernel in the boot phase no longer relies on the stack provided by OpenFirmware
- instead of of doing FLUSHW during kernel startup, simply set the
window state registers to the wanted state
- NWINDOW -> NWINDOWS
- Add/fix some comments and copyrights.

1916 6429 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/trap/ Small change of code organization.
No functional difference.
