4021 5725 d 21 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ There is no need to define ioport{8,16,32}_t types for each architecture separately.
3973 5730 d 6 h decky /trunk/kernel/ kernel memory management revisited (phase 2): map physical memory according to zones
- ia32: register reserved and ACPI zones
- pareas are now used only for mapping of present physical memory (hw_area() is gone)
- firmware zones and physical addresses outside any zones are allowed to be mapped generally
- fix nasty antient bug in zones_insert_zone()

3961 5735 d 2 h jermar /trunk/ Unbreak sparc64.
Due to the lack of userspace bus drivers for the z8530 and ns16550,
we are currently handling exactly one interrupt from these devices
in userspace.

3929 5737 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Introduce ioport8_t, ioport16_t and ioport32_t. These types are to be used with
pio_read_n() and pio_write_n() functions. This breaks everything.

3922 5739 d 19 h decky /trunk/ make arch_pre_main optional, don't force any specific prototype
simplify boot process
mips32: detect number of configured CPUs in msim

3908 5740 d 23 h decky /trunk/ overhaul pareas: use one single physical area for the physical address space not belonging to physical memory
3906 5741 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ IRQ handlers are using one superfluous argument and an unused elipsis.
On the other hand, IRQ claim functions would need to be passed the instance
argument.

3902 5742 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Introduce a more platform-neutral name for programmed I/O.

The new API looks like pio_read_n() or pio_write_n(), where n is 8, 16 or 32.
The old API (i.e. inb(), inw(), inl(), outb() outw(), outl()) may have made
some people think that the interface is only to be used with the separate I/O
space. That's not the case. This API is to be implemented on all platforms
so that we can finally have really generic kernel device drivers.

3880 5744 d 21 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ simplify configuration
introduce arch_construct_function and inb/outb (sometimes empty) on all platforms
various code cleanup

3878 5744 d 21 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ introduce fncptr_t and ioport_t on all platforms
3779 5784 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Only one kernel EGA driver to rule them all.
3740 5794 d 1 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Fix typo.
3736 5795 d 4 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ refresh kernel console during grab on sparc64
3722 5799 d 7 h rimsky /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/include/ SMC functions optimized for US3.
3672 5813 d 22 h jermar /trunk/ Merge sparc branch to trunk.
3655 5819 d 21 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Add additional members to the irq_t structure so that an interrupt-driven driver
does not need to know how to clear the level interrupt. The z8530 was modified
in this way and is much more generic. The ns16550 driver has also been modified,
but awaits testing. The sparc64 interrupt mapping and dispatch code is now using
the new info and calls the clear-interrupt-routine itself.

3654 5819 d 23 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ After my effort yesterday, there are two rival psycho drivers.
Merge the two and remove the newer one.

3647 5820 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Improvized Psycho driver.
3580 5837 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/include/ Accesses to memory mapped registers should use volatile pointers so that
the compiler doesn't even think of trying to be clever. Add memory barriers
and fixed cstyle.

3577 5838 d 10 h vana /trunk/kernel/ Support for serial port console on IA64 as a compensation for keyboard - based on SPARC ns16550 driver
