625 6900 d 1 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ We are now almost -Wall clean.
- redefined atomic_t
- deleted many, many unused variables
- some minor code cleanups found using compiler warning.

624 6900 d 2 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Add LIST_INITIALIZE() macro to declare and initialize statically allocated lists.
623 6900 d 7 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Add SPINLOCK_DECLARE and SPINLOCK_INITIALIZE macros.
SPINLOCK_DECLARE is to be used instead of direct spinlock_t declarations
in dynamically allocated structures on which spinlock_initialize() is called after
their creation.
SPINLOCK_INITIALIZE is to be used instead of direct spinlock_t declarations
of global spinlocks. It declares and initializes the spinlock.
Moreover, both macros are empty on UP so that -Wall warnings about unused structures
get supressed.

557 6908 d 4 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Add comments describing locking rules for some locks.
Cleanup.

552 6908 d 20 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Named spinlocks
548 6908 d 22 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Cleanup and fixes.
534 6910 d 22 h jermar / Rename HelenOS/SPARTAN to HelenOS/kernel again.
533 6910 d 22 h bondari /SPARTAN/trunk/ Buddy allocator for physical memory complete implementation.
Tested on IA32, AMD64, MIPS32. RWLock Test #5 is not passed.
NOTE: Other architectures could be broken (but should not be)

532 6910 d 22 h jermar / Revert renaming of HelenOS/SPARTAN to HelenOS/kernel because of important pending patch.
501 6923 d 2 h jermar / Rename HelenOS/SPARTAN to HelenOS/kernel.
475 6935 d 4 h jermar /SPARTAN/trunk/ Define atomic_t type.
452 6937 d 21 h decky /SPARTAN/trunk/ major build system revision (unfinished)
this patchset most definitively breaks a lot of things, be patient

430 6943 d 19 h jermar /SPARTAN/trunk/ Move src/ and include/ to generic.
414 6958 d 8 h jermar /SPARTAN/trunk/ Create generic context_save() and context_restore().
These two functions are defined inline and only call context_save_arch() and context_restore_arch(), respectively.
The main purpose of this is to enable centralized commenting of these important and tricky functions.

413 6958 d 18 h jermar /SPARTAN/trunk/ Rename cpu_priority_{high|low|restore|read} functions to interrupts_{disable|enable|restore|read}.
Rename pri_t to ipl_t (Interrupt Priority Level).
Rename thread_t::pri to thread_t::priority.

248 7004 d 0 h jermar /SPARTAN/trunk/ Make atomic_dec() and atomic_inc() take (volatile int *) argument, not (volatile count_t *).
241 7004 d 22 h palkovsky /SPARTAN/trunk/ Cleanups so that it compiles on ia-32 & amd-64 cleanly
227 7005 d 3 h jermar /SPARTAN/trunk/ Add couple of assertions CPU != NULL.

Change type of nrdy from int to count_t.

Rewrite halt() to avoid page fault when CPU == NULL.

213 7005 d 20 h jermar /SPARTAN/trunk/ Add some comments.
210 7005 d 20 h decky /SPARTAN/trunk/ many PPC stuff, platform dependent arch.h header files
