4047 5588 d 13 h jermar /trunk/ Improve the configuration file.

- Support for easy configuration with sane defaults.

- Fix the ambiguous MACHINE variable by introducing the PROCESSOR variable.

- Eliminate some unnecessarily detailed questions by providing defaults for the
Serengeti machine.

- Introduce CONFIG_HID_IN and CONFIG_HID_OUT variables. They help to limit the
number of offered HID devices. In the future, they can be also used to
configure the way how the serial controller devices are connected to the
keyboard / serial line modules on some platforms where we can't autodetect.

4042 5588 d 18 h jermar /trunk/ Complete emancipation of kernel serial controller drivers (i8042, ns16550 and
z8530). Provide a common keyboard module for PC and Sun keyboards. The serial
line module is still to follow.

4032 5590 d 14 h svoboda /trunk/ Init-task names for sparc64 (that's the final one, whew).
4026 5592 d 11 h jermar /trunk/ Make the kbd port drivers platform neutral by using PIO functions.
The kernel now supplies the physical address and the kernel virtual address.

4023 5592 d 12 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/arch/ Unify arch_pre_main() comments.
4021 5592 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ There is no need to define ioport{8,16,32}_t types for each architecture separately.
4011 5593 d 13 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ String functions should be declared in string.h (and implemented in string.c) in the kernel.
3982 5595 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Do not set sysinfo for uspace drivers directly in the kernel drivers.
3978 5596 d 13 h jermar /trunk/ Userspace driver for OBIO. This will make it possible to clear interrupts from
user space on UltraSPARC IIi and systems with Psycho. Not tested.

3973 5596 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/ kernel memory management revisited (phase 2): map physical memory according to zones
- ia32: register reserved and ACPI zones
- pareas are now used only for mapping of present physical memory (hw_area() is gone)
- firmware zones and physical addresses outside any zones are allowed to be mapped generally
- fix nasty antient bug in zones_insert_zone()

3969 5598 d 12 h jermar /trunk/ Add simple userspace FHC driver.
Modify the z8530 userspace driver
to send BUS_CLEAR_INTERRUPT
notification to the FHC driver.

3961 5601 d 19 h jermar /trunk/ Unbreak sparc64.
Due to the lack of userspace bus drivers for the z8530 and ns16550,
we are currently handling exactly one interrupt from these devices
in userspace.

3941 5603 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Let IRQ claim methods take irq_t * instead of the instance argument.
3940 5603 d 17 h decky /trunk/kernel/ make hw_area API more generic
this allows mapping of EGA VRAM on ia32/amd64

3935 5604 d 10 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/drivers/ Fix sparc64 build.
3929 5604 d 12 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Introduce ioport8_t, ioport16_t and ioport32_t. These types are to be used with
pio_read_n() and pio_write_n() functions. This breaks everything.

3922 5606 d 11 h decky /trunk/ make arch_pre_main optional, don't force any specific prototype
simplify boot process
mips32: detect number of configured CPUs in msim

3908 5607 d 15 h decky /trunk/ overhaul pareas: use one single physical area for the physical address space not belonging to physical memory
3906 5608 d 11 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ IRQ handlers are using one superfluous argument and an unused elipsis.
On the other hand, IRQ claim functions would need to be passed the instance
argument.

3902 5608 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Introduce a more platform-neutral name for programmed I/O.

The new API looks like pio_read_n() or pio_write_n(), where n is 8, 16 or 32.
The old API (i.e. inb(), inw(), inl(), outb() outw(), outl()) may have made
some people think that the interface is only to be used with the separate I/O
space. That's not the case. This API is to be implemented on all platforms
so that we can finally have really generic kernel device drivers.
