4556 5459 d 2 h decky /trunk/ define endianess externally to be able to exactly specify whether we are using UTF-32LE or UTF-32BE
quit messing with BOM in UTF-32

4490 5473 d 15 h decky /trunk/kernel/ remove redundant index_t and count_t types (which were always quite ambiguous and not actually needed)
4311 5516 d 22 h decky /trunk/ change the way how input devices are wired together according to ticket #44
(also the proposal http://lists.modry.cz/cgi-bin/private/helenos-devel/2009-March/002507.html)

4272 5524 d 14 h jermar /trunk/ Prevent optimizing ia64's PIO away.
This solves the frequent hangs of HelenOS/ia64 in i8042_init().

4114 5556 d 14 h jermar /trunk/ Fix one RAW dependency.
4060 5560 d 21 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ia64/ Clean up ski handling in kernel.
4031 5564 d 12 h svoboda /trunk/ Init-task names for ia64.
4028 5564 d 18 h jermar /trunk/ Fix typo.
4021 5565 d 14 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ There is no need to define ioport{8,16,32}_t types for each architecture separately.
3973 5569 d 23 h decky /trunk/kernel/ kernel memory management revisited (phase 2): map physical memory according to zones
- ia32: register reserved and ACPI zones
- pareas are now used only for mapping of present physical memory (hw_area() is gone)
- firmware zones and physical addresses outside any zones are allowed to be mapped generally
- fix nasty antient bug in zones_insert_zone()

3940 5576 d 17 h decky /trunk/kernel/ make hw_area API more generic
this allows mapping of EGA VRAM on ia32/amd64

3932 5577 d 12 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Kill arch/drivers/ega.h. Provide one-stop shopping
place for architectures with ia32 legacy I/O space.

3930 5577 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Adapt most of the kernel to ioport8_t, ioport16_t and ioport32_t types.
3929 5577 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Introduce ioport8_t, ioport16_t and ioport32_t. These types are to be used with
pio_read_n() and pio_write_n() functions. This breaks everything.

3928 5577 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Kill arch/drivers/i8042.h.
3922 5579 d 12 h decky /trunk/ make arch_pre_main optional, don't force any specific prototype
simplify boot process
mips32: detect number of configured CPUs in msim

3908 5580 d 16 h decky /trunk/ overhaul pareas: use one single physical area for the physical address space not belonging to physical memory
3902 5581 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Introduce a more platform-neutral name for programmed I/O.

The new API looks like pio_read_n() or pio_write_n(), where n is 8, 16 or 32.
The old API (i.e. inb(), inw(), inl(), outb() outw(), outl()) may have made
some people think that the interface is only to be used with the separate I/O
space. That's not the case. This API is to be implemented on all platforms
so that we can finally have really generic kernel device drivers.

3880 5584 d 14 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ simplify configuration
introduce arch_construct_function and inb/outb (sometimes empty) on all platforms
various code cleanup

3878 5584 d 15 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ introduce fncptr_t and ioport_t on all platforms
