2444 6251 d 22 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ First fixes for suncc support.
It is going to be a long way...

2443 6251 d 23 h jermar /trunk/ sscc -> suncc
2442 6252 d 0 h jermar /trunk/ Add dummy option for Sun Studio C Compiler.
For each architecture, offer only compilers that support the target.

2441 6252 d 0 h decky /trunk/kernel/ fix ICC compilation
2440 6252 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Fix the problem with sys_thread_create() by splitting the create and attach functionality of
thread_create(). Now it is possible to specify a flag that will cause thread_create() to only allocate and
initialize the thread structure. A call to thread_attach() will make the thread visible to the system.
This arrangement makes it easier to undo creation of a thread in case of a failure in sys_thread_create().

2439 6252 d 0 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/src/ fix ICC compilation
2438 6252 d 0 h decky /trunk/ update for new compiler configuration scheme
2437 6252 d 1 h decky /trunk/ experimental support for ICC
(the sources has to be modified to avoid ICC compiler warnings)

2436 6253 d 2 h jermar /trunk/ Fix two memory leaks.

In kernel, kernel_uarg structure needs to be deallocated when a thread
with userspace context is destroyed.

In userspace, the return value of the SYS_THREAD_CREATE must be checked
for error conditions and in case of error, uarg and stack must be freed
up.

2359 6265 d 11 h jermar /trunk/ Improve comments for the IPC subsystem.
Fix formatting and indentation.

2321 6273 d 7 h decky /trunk/ keep mouse state in i8042_grab, unify keyboard and mouse IRQ handler
(this fixes ticket #12)

2319 6273 d 11 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/console/ run mcall only on active CPUs
2317 6273 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/include/ remove outstanding move
2316 6273 d 23 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/include/ remove forgotten movs
2314 6273 d 23 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/include/ allow to compile with -O0
2310 6276 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Cleanup the waitq_wakeup() interface.
Replace numeric constants (i.e. 0)
and boolean constants (i.e. false) with
more readable WAKEUP_FIRST. Also change the
type of the second argument of waitq_wakeup()
to a newly introduced type wakeup_mode_t.

Fix behaviour of waitq_wakeup() in case
that WAKEUP_ALL semantics is required
but no threads are sleeping in the wait
queue. This is a similar fix to that of
Jan Hudecek committed in the RCU branch,
but, IMHO, is more straightforward and
also doesn't eat up previous missed
wakeups.

2302 6279 d 4 h decky /trunk/ force VGA palette to 3:2:3 palette on 8 bpp modes
(this fixes ticket #33)

2285 6288 d 11 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/proc/ Formatting and indentation fixes.
2275 6293 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ add fancy uptime kconsole command
2272 6294 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Indentation and formatting fixes.
2268 6295 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Document and assert proper usage of THREAD_FLAG_WIRED.
Original patch by Jan Hudecek.

2267 6296 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/mm/ Fix indentation.
2266 6296 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/mm/ Add few assertions to tsb.c and clean it up a little bit.
2252 6298 d 1 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/mm/ Move one MEMBAR instruction from a delay slot,
which is, due to SF Erratum #51, a potentionally
dangerous place for a MEMBAR to be.

2233 6304 d 1 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ use the hlt instruction more properly
2232 6304 d 1 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/mips32/src/ add support for halt/reboot in MSIM
2231 6304 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Fix a nasty bug in the TLB miss handlers on sparc64.
After we no longer lock the kernel stack in the DTLB,
there is a real danger of nested DTLB misses. The nested
miss can very easily clobber the DTLB Tag Access register.
Therefore, the original miss may not read this register, but
it has to receive its value as an argument. The argument
value is saved in the trap table when it is guaranteed that
the nested TLB miss will not occur.

2229 6304 d 8 h jermar /trunk/ Revert some of the changes introduced in revision 2209.
I think it is not correct to remove serialization of pseudo threads in printf_core.c.
With thread-level futex serialization, several pseudo threads running in one thread could easily deadlock
the task.

Add a dedicated futex serialization to thread1.c test only.

2228 6304 d 8 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/ Fix ticket #28.
In switch_to_userspace(), the uarg argument is in %i2, not in %i3.

2227 6304 d 15 h decky /trunk/kernel/ start shutdown infrastructure
2225 6304 d 16 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/mips32/ the bss and common sections have to be in .data output section to be properly generated in the binary image
(this might break IRIX, but it is already unmaintaned)

2224 6304 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/console/ detach joined thread
2223 6304 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ add mcall0 command (calling a function on each CPU)
2222 6305 d 1 h decky /trunk/kernel/ map kernel pages explicitly as writable (this solves compatibility issues with Intel Core 2)
make VESA framebuffer initialization more robust

2221 6305 d 2 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/src/boot/ fix typo in comment
2220 6305 d 2 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/src/boot/ check for PSE support, add error message on PSE not present
make initial mapping explicitly writeable, turn PAE explicitly off (just in case)

2219 6305 d 4 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/amd64/src/boot/ add error message on no long mode support
2218 6305 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/ support the possibility to send EOI or Interrupt Acknowledgement
prior to processing the interrupt
(this is essential on some architectures to prevent preemption deadlock)

2217 6305 d 23 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ia32/src/smp/ On SMP amd64 and ia32 systems, release the irq->lock
before calling clock() from the interrupt handler.
This is important for maintaining kernel preemption
since no preemption can take place while a spinlock
is held.

2216 6306 d 2 h decky /trunk/ make thread ID 64 bit (task ID is 64 bit already)
cleanup thread syscalls
