2275 6323 d 13 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ add fancy uptime kconsole command
2272 6324 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Indentation and formatting fixes.
2268 6325 d 12 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Document and assert proper usage of THREAD_FLAG_WIRED.
Original patch by Jan Hudecek.

2229 6334 d 18 h jermar /trunk/ Revert some of the changes introduced in revision 2209.
I think it is not correct to remove serialization of pseudo threads in printf_core.c.
With thread-level futex serialization, several pseudo threads running in one thread could easily deadlock
the task.

Add a dedicated futex serialization to thread1.c test only.

2227 6335 d 1 h decky /trunk/kernel/ start shutdown infrastructure
2224 6335 d 8 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/console/ detach joined thread
2223 6335 d 8 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ add mcall0 command (calling a function on each CPU)
2222 6335 d 11 h decky /trunk/kernel/ map kernel pages explicitly as writable (this solves compatibility issues with Intel Core 2)
make VESA framebuffer initialization more robust

2218 6336 d 8 h decky /trunk/kernel/ support the possibility to send EOI or Interrupt Acknowledgement
prior to processing the interrupt
(this is essential on some architectures to prevent preemption deadlock)

2216 6336 d 11 h decky /trunk/ make thread ID 64 bit (task ID is 64 bit already)
cleanup thread syscalls

2211 6336 d 13 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/synch/ reflect the renaming of printflock to printf_lock
2208 6336 d 13 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ use spinlock only on console output, not other print functions
cleanup

2187 6337 d 19 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ add syscall for getting current thread ID
2185 6337 d 19 h decky /trunk/ rename ipcc to tester
2184 6337 d 21 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/lib/ add zetta (sextillion) prefix
make constants explicitly unsigned

2183 6338 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Continue to de-oversynchronize the kernel.
- replace as->refcount with an atomic counter; accesses to this
reference counter are not to be done when the as->lock mutex is held;
this gets us rid of mutex_lock_active();

Remove the possibility of a deadlock between TLB shootdown and asidlock.
- get rid of mutex_lock_active() on as->lock
- when locking the asidlock spinlock, always do it conditionally and with
preemption disabled; in the unsuccessful case, enable interrupts and try again
- there should be no deadlock between TLB shootdown and the as->lock mutexes
- PLEASE REVIEW !!!

Add DEADLOCK_PROBE's to places where we have spinlock_trylock() loops.

2170 6343 d 9 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Simplify synchronization in as_switch().
The function was oversynchronized, which
was causing deadlocks on the address
space mutex.

Now, address spaces can only be switched
when the asidlock is held. This also protects
stealing of ASIDs. No other synchronization
is necessary.

2141 6347 d 8 h jermar /trunk/ The Ultimate Solution To Illegal Virtual Aliases.
It is better to avoid them completely than to fight them.
Switch the sparc64 port to 16K pages. The TLBs and TSBs
continue to operate with 8K pages only. Page tables and
other generic parts operate with 16K pages.

Because the MMU doesn't support 16K directly, each 16K
page is emulated by a pair of 8K pages. With 16K pages,
illegal aliases cannot be created in 16K D-cache.

2134 6348 d 12 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Reworked handling of illegal virtual aliases caused by frame reuse.
We moved the incomplete handling from backend's frame method to
backend's page_fault method. The page_fault method is the one that
can create an illegal alias if it writes the userspace frame using
kernel address with a different page color than the page to which is
this frame mapped in userspace. When we detect this, we do D-cache
shootdown on all processors (!!!).

If we add code that accesses userspace memory from kernel address
space, we will have to check for illegal virtual aliases at all such
places.

I tested this on a 4-way simulated E6500 and a real-world Ultra 5,
which has unfortunatelly only one processor.

This solves ticket #26.

2133 6348 d 12 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/mm/ Coding style and indentation fixes.
2132 6349 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/mm/ Fix coding style in the address space area backends.
2128 6390 d 12 h jermar /trunk/ Add arm32 architecture. The 32 suffix is used to specify that 16-bit Thumb
instructions are not used. The arm32 code is mostly composed of placeholders
that need to be replaced by real implementation. So far, the arm32 tree
only compiles. If run under GXEmul simulator, an infinit loop at the
kernel entry point will be entered.

2127 6390 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/lib/ add forgotten implementation
2126 6391 d 9 h decky /trunk/kernel/ small cleanup, more work coming
2125 6391 d 11 h decky /trunk/ experimental support for Objective C
(disabled by default)

2124 6391 d 13 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ implement simple realloc()
2123 6397 d 16 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/mm/ add forgotten unsigned
2122 6397 d 16 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ explicit typecast, fix signed/unsigned comparison
2121 6397 d 16 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/mm/ remove anonymous structure, add static qualifier

2111 6397 d 19 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/adt/ fix signed/unsigned comparison
2109 6398 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Revert thread_interrupt_sleep() to waitq_interrupt_sleep().
I'd prefer that this, IMO, waitq related stuff stays together.

2108 6398 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/console/ Cleanup kconsole.c
