4013 5631 d 0 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/generic/ Didn't need strrcpy() afterall. Also remove strcpy() since strncpy() is better.
4011 5631 d 2 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ String functions should be declared in string.h (and implemented in string.c) in the kernel.
3988 5632 d 1 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/generic/src/proc/ Fix misaligned columns (whoops).
3987 5632 d 2 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Read command line for multiboot modules on ia32 and copy it to task name. Other arches will need to initialize task names in the init structure to an empty string.
3983 5632 d 8 h svoboda /trunk/ task_set_name() syscall so that we can have names (for userspace-loaded) tasks again.
3908 5645 d 4 h decky /trunk/ overhaul pareas: use one single physical area for the physical address space not belonging to physical memory
3896 5646 d 23 h svoboda /trunk/ More elegant way of invoking the loader - as a 'cloneable' service. Task names functionality lost for the time being.
3875 5649 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ remove platform dependent constructs from generic code
3790 5684 d 11 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Make newlines in panic messages consistent. Add periods at end of messages so that it is obvious whether they are printed entirely.
3734 5699 d 9 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/proc/ coding style
3620 5730 d 12 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/generic/ Move stuff related to kbox to a separate struct.
3617 5731 d 6 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/generic/ Fix race that allowed Udebug to report THREAD_B events for threads already reported with THREAD_READ.
3581 5742 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Some cstyle.
3578 5742 d 15 h vana /trunk/ Alfa of SMP support on IA64
3566 5745 d 13 h svoboda /trunk/ Set meaningful names for loaded programs. Now 'tasks' kconsole command is much less obscure.
3565 5746 d 0 h svoboda /trunk/ Fix sys_thread_create(): could fail when passed name was at end of mapping, could crash if provided name was not null-terminated.
3438 5797 d 11 h svoboda /trunk/ Merge syscall tracer (trace) and relevant part of udebug interface from tracing to trunk.
3359 5821 d 12 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/proc/ Improve comments in task.c
3222 5868 d 7 h svoboda /trunk/ Merge program-loader related stuff from dynload branch to trunk. (huge)
3186 5883 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Support for active mutexes. Active mutexes implement busy waiting, pretty much
in the same way as spinlocks, but can be passed to condition variables, which is
the motivation for this enhancement.

3181 5885 d 12 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ cstyle for kinit.c and scheduler.c
3137 5892 d 11 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/proc/ Maintain cache coherence after sys_task_spawn() copies ELF image from user space.
3104 5900 d 15 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Declare arguments for memstr.h operations as pointers instead of uintptr_t.
3063 5903 d 8 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/proc/ support for SYS_SPAWN syscall
proper printf formatting
change the way init tasks are created

3062 5903 d 8 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/proc/ proper printf formatting
2907 5925 d 7 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/proc/ Improve comment for thread_create().
2802 5962 d 12 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Fix initialization of answerbox->task in ipc_answerbox_init.
Contributed by Jiri Svoboda.

2790 5968 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/proc/ Fix typo ALV tree vs. AVL tree.
2765 5989 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/proc/ tasklet.c needs to include config.h
2746 6000 d 6 h decky /trunk/kernel/ start merging tasklets (more or less a rewrite)
2745 6000 d 11 h decky /trunk/ code cleanup (mostly signed/unsigned)
allow extra compiler warnings

2712 6026 d 9 h decky /trunk/kernel/ prettyprint output
2632 6087 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/proc/ try to kill the tasks fewer times by introducing a delay in iterations
2504 6213 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Give the AVL tree walkers the possibility to take an argument.
Each walker is now supposed to return a bool value to support walk termination.

Switch over from the tasks_btree B+tree to tasks_tree AVL tree.
This makes the fix for ticket #48 complete.

2502 6213 d 9 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Replace the threads_btree B+tree with an AVL tree. The new variable is called
threads_tree. For printing list of threads, use the new AVL tree walker
mechanism.

This solves half of ticket #48.

2487 6240 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/proc/ Kernel stack address was printed twice.
2470 6259 d 1 h jermar /trunk/ Fix a double-free recently introduced in revision r2436.
Add a comment clarifying the life-cycle of the kernel_uarg structure.

Comment out the freeing of userspace thread stack while still running on it.
This should be fixed by implementing userspace version of thread_join().

2451 6268 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ JoinMe -> Lingering
2446 6271 d 7 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ More efficient and simpler task termination.

Based on the assumption, that after its creation, only the task itself can create more threads for itself,
the last thread with userspace context to execute thread_exit() will perform futex and IPC cleanup. When
the task has no threads, it is destroyed. Both the cleanup and destruction is controlled by reference
counting.

As for userspace threads, even though there could be a global garbage collector for joining threads, it is
much simpler if the uinit thread detaches itself before switching to userspace.

task_kill() is now an idempotent operation. It just instructs the threads within a task to exit.

Change in the name of a thread state: Undead -> JoinMe.

2440 6272 d 1 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Fix the problem with sys_thread_create() by splitting the create and attach functionality of
thread_create(). Now it is possible to specify a flag that will cause thread_create() to only allocate and
initialize the thread structure. A call to thread_attach() will make the thread visible to the system.
This arrangement makes it easier to undo creation of a thread in case of a failure in sys_thread_create().
