1954 6420 d 9 h jermar /trunk/ Minor changes. Some coding style fixes and also a type (tee vs. tree).
One AS -> as change.

1915 6438 d 10 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ A quote from from SPARC V9 specification:

The Y register is deprecated; it is provided only for compatibility with previous versions
of the architecture. It should not be used in new SPARC-V9 software. It is
recommended that all instructions that reference the Y register (i.e., SMUL,
SMULcc, UMUL, UMULcc, MULScc, SDIV, SDIVcc, UDIV, UDIVcc, RDY, and
WRY) be avoided. See the appropriate pages in Appendix A, “Instruction Definitions,”
for suitable substitute instructions.

Still gcc is generating code which uses Y and some of the instructions above.
This change modifies the preemptible_handler() to preserve the Y register
across preemption.

1914 6438 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Add function for printing out info about address space.
1891 6458 d 8 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ sparc64 work:
- Experimental support for TSB (Translation Storage Buffer).

1890 6458 d 18 h jermar /trunk/ - Create a dedicated slab cache for as_t objects and switch from malloc/free to slab_alloc/slab_free for
them.

- Slightly fix and improve both the kernel and userspace atomic_add() on sparc64.

- More TSB work on the sparc64 front.

1889 6459 d 10 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Fix bug in mm/as.c:
- as_area_destroy() should not work with AS but as

sparc64 work:
- start implementing TSB support

1851 6486 d 17 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ sparc64 work.
Define the istate structure.
Move the identity-mapping handler to assembly.
Make the preemptible handler more general so that TL=1 MMU exceptions can make use of it.

Little bit of formatting and indentation.

1793 6524 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Change hw_map() on sparc64 to use virtual addresses that are
beyond the end of physical memory. It is beneficial in two
ways: first, physical memory is no longer being wasted by
otherwise necessary calls to frame_alloc() and, second,
virtual addresses for devices are now correctly allocated
and do not overlap with the 4M TLB-locked mapping for
kernel text and data.

1787 6527 d 12 h decky / move kernel/trunk, uspace/trunk and boot/trunk to trunk/kernel, trunk/uspace and trunk/boot
1780 6534 d 13 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Replace old __u?? types with respective C99 variants (e.g. uint32_t, int64_t, uintptr_t etc.).
1760 6545 d 14 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Changed interface of frame_alloc/free to use address of frame instead of the pfn.
This makes it impossible to use >4GB of memory on 32-bit machines, but who cares...

1757 6548 d 18 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Cleanup of comments.
1735 6550 d 19 h decky /kernel/trunk/ make kernel prints case consistent
1705 6554 d 19 h cejka /kernel/trunk/ Added file with modules definitions and descriptions.
We are able to change modules order and their description in one place.

1702 6555 d 16 h cejka /kernel/trunk/ Kernel doxygen comments updated.
1594 6563 d 5 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/src/mm/ Never ever walk a B+tree as you destroy it. Or vice versa.
1587 6563 d 13 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ task_destroy() implementation, fixes in as_destroy() and task_kill().
This is the first version of HelenOS that would perform complete cleanup leading from thread to destruction of address space.

1544 6565 d 16 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Slightly better behaviour with caching on memory sharing.
1495 6567 d 5 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Remove three infinite loops introduced yesterday :-)

Make ia64 ready to load 5 ELF images.

1483 6567 d 16 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/src/ Implement recursive function for deallocating the whole B+tree.
Make use of this function in address space management.

1468 6568 d 14 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Function for destroying address space for which there is no other reference in the kernel.
1461 6568 d 16 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Slightly changed semantics of AS_AREA_SEND/RECV.
1437 6571 d 9 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/src/mm/ Fix used_space_insert() to correctly service an empty used_space B+tree.
1436 6571 d 10 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/src/mm/ Fight TLB inconsistency by proper placing of tlb_shootdown_start() and tlb_shootdown_finalize() in as.c.
1434 6571 d 12 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Added 'realtime' clock interface.
Added some asm macros as memory barriers.
Added drift computing for mips platform.

1428 6572 d 7 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Added 256K slab, so that AMD can boot (until ELF loader is fixed).
Added AS_AREA_RECV so that the caller can receive AS_AREA.

1424 6572 d 12 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Move the sharing functionality to address space area backends.
Add backend for continuous regions of physical memory.
Sharing for these areas works automagically now.

1423 6572 d 17 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Update page fault handlers to distinguish between different access modes that had caused the page fault.
1417 6574 d 9 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Modify as_area_share() to accept destination area flags bitmask from the sender
(i.e. the sender can limit access mode to the shared area for the recipient).
Modify IPC_M_AS_AREA_SEND code to support this. Arguments for sender: arg1=as_area,
arg2=size, arg3=flags_mask.

The mechanism seems to work, but the page fault handlers need to be altered to
distinguish between faults under different access modes.

1415 6574 d 21 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Some renaming to prevent confusion.
as_lock -> inactive_as_with_asid_lock
as_t::refcount -> as_t::cpu_refcount

1413 6575 d 8 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Reimplement memory sharing. Currently, only
anonymous address space areas can be shared.

1411 6575 d 13 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Modify the hierarchy of page fault handlers to pass access mode that caused the fault.
Architectures are required to pass either PF_ACCESS_READ, PF_ACCESS_WRITE or PF_ACCESS_EXEC
to as_page_fault(), depending on the cause of the fault.

1409 6576 d 7 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Some shared memory stuff (not completed).
Support for address space area backends.
Add ELF and anonymous memory backends.

1403 6577 d 21 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/src/mm/ Fixes of the used_space management code.
Switch as_area_destroy() and as_area_resize() to use the used_space map.
as_area_steal() not switched as it will undergo further changes.

1387 6578 d 15 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Add used_space_insert() and used_space_remove().
These are the alpha versions of functions that
will help to map used and unused portions of address
space areas. Currently unused, but many as_area operations
will be more efficient when the used space B+tree map
is used.

1383 6579 d 8 h decky /kernel/trunk/ ppc32: hardware memory mapping, kernel PHT refill fix
1380 6579 d 11 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Turn address space lock, address space area lock and
page_ht_lock into mutexes.

1358 6583 d 13 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Cleanup after removal of as_area_accept and as_area_send.
1329 6585 d 13 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Added support to IPC for simple page sharing.
1309 6588 d 12 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/src/mm/ On as_area_destroy(), mark the area as partial before unlocking and free its
structure after unlocking.
