4032 5619 d 23 h svoboda /trunk/ Init-task names for sparc64 (that's the final one, whew).
4021 5621 d 22 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ There is no need to define ioport{8,16,32}_t types for each architecture separately.
3973 5626 d 7 h decky /trunk/kernel/ kernel memory management revisited (phase 2): map physical memory according to zones
- ia32: register reserved and ACPI zones
- pareas are now used only for mapping of present physical memory (hw_area() is gone)
- firmware zones and physical addresses outside any zones are allowed to be mapped generally
- fix nasty antient bug in zones_insert_zone()

3961 5631 d 3 h jermar /trunk/ Unbreak sparc64.
Due to the lack of userspace bus drivers for the z8530 and ns16550,
we are currently handling exactly one interrupt from these devices
in userspace.

3929 5633 d 21 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Introduce ioport8_t, ioport16_t and ioport32_t. These types are to be used with
pio_read_n() and pio_write_n() functions. This breaks everything.

3922 5635 d 20 h decky /trunk/ make arch_pre_main optional, don't force any specific prototype
simplify boot process
mips32: detect number of configured CPUs in msim

3908 5637 d 0 h decky /trunk/ overhaul pareas: use one single physical area for the physical address space not belonging to physical memory
3906 5637 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ IRQ handlers are using one superfluous argument and an unused elipsis.
On the other hand, IRQ claim functions would need to be passed the instance
argument.

3902 5638 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Introduce a more platform-neutral name for programmed I/O.

The new API looks like pio_read_n() or pio_write_n(), where n is 8, 16 or 32.
The old API (i.e. inb(), inw(), inl(), outb() outw(), outl()) may have made
some people think that the interface is only to be used with the separate I/O
space. That's not the case. This API is to be implemented on all platforms
so that we can finally have really generic kernel device drivers.

3880 5640 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ simplify configuration
introduce arch_construct_function and inb/outb (sometimes empty) on all platforms
various code cleanup

3878 5640 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ introduce fncptr_t and ioport_t on all platforms
3779 5680 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Only one kernel EGA driver to rule them all.
3740 5690 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Fix typo.
3736 5691 d 5 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ refresh kernel console during grab on sparc64
3722 5695 d 8 h rimsky /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/include/ SMC functions optimized for US3.
3672 5709 d 23 h jermar /trunk/ Merge sparc branch to trunk.
3655 5715 d 22 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Add additional members to the irq_t structure so that an interrupt-driven driver
does not need to know how to clear the level interrupt. The z8530 was modified
in this way and is much more generic. The ns16550 driver has also been modified,
but awaits testing. The sparc64 interrupt mapping and dispatch code is now using
the new info and calls the clear-interrupt-routine itself.

3654 5716 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ After my effort yesterday, there are two rival psycho drivers.
Merge the two and remove the newer one.

3647 5716 d 21 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Improvized Psycho driver.
3580 5733 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/include/ Accesses to memory mapped registers should use volatile pointers so that
the compiler doesn't even think of trying to be clever. Add memory barriers
and fixed cstyle.

3577 5734 d 11 h vana /trunk/kernel/ Support for serial port console on IA64 as a compensation for keyboard - based on SPARC ns16550 driver
3482 5773 d 22 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Do not allocate full page for the uspace window buffer.
Instead, allocate only the bare minimum to fit NWINDOWS - 1
uspace windows and to satisfy alignment requirements.

3463 5786 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Populate all sparc64 trap table slots belonging to trap_instruction_n.
3379 5806 d 9 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/include/ Add the missing preemption_disable() call to sparc64 atomic_lock_arch().
Thanks to Pavel Rimsky for noticing this.

3233 5841 d 3 h decky /trunk/ remove dummy page coloring facility, which is currenty not used
3145 5883 d 10 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/include/ On sparc64, when the operand to the FLUSH instruction doesn't matter, the
instruction's semantics is to flush the pipeline.

3134 5884 d 8 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Add smc_coherence_block().
3133 5884 d 22 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Add smc_coherence() macro to all architectures.
So far, only amd64, ia32, ia64 and sparc64 are implemented.

3104 5892 d 11 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Declare arguments for memstr.h operations as pointers instead of uintptr_t.
3071 5895 d 4 h decky /trunk/kernel/ reflect changes in generic code
proper formatting directives
coding style

3070 5895 d 4 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ introduce portable formatting directives
remove common types

2860 5943 d 22 h cejka /trunk/ Context handling unified for sparc64.
2797 5955 d 22 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Each architecture should only announce its endianity.
The conversion macros should be defined only once.

2794 5956 d 22 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Add macros for byte swapping of uint16_t's.
2725 6013 d 4 h decky /trunk/kernel/ remove config.memory_size, get_memory_size() and memory_init.{c|d}
the amount of available memory can be calculated from the sizes of the zones
add FRAMES2SIZE, SIZE2KB and SIZE2MB functions/macros (code readability)

2721 6014 d 4 h decky /trunk/kernel/ convert e820list to a generic physmem command
2610 6095 d 2 h jermar /trunk/ Support for six syscall arguments for sparc64.
There is a minor stability issue which needs to be fixed (kernel panics upon entering kconsole from the
console task).

2510 6166 d 22 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Experimental support for the cgsix framebuffer, which is found on old Ultra 1
worksations, and the SBUS bus and devices. Not tested.

2272 6306 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Indentation and formatting fixes.
2231 6316 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Fix a nasty bug in the TLB miss handlers on sparc64.
After we no longer lock the kernel stack in the DTLB,
there is a real danger of nested DTLB misses. The nested
miss can very easily clobber the DTLB Tag Access register.
Therefore, the original miss may not read this register, but
it has to receive its value as an argument. The argument
value is saved in the trap table when it is guaranteed that
the nested TLB miss will not occur.
