3973 5645 d 6 h decky /trunk/kernel/ kernel memory management revisited (phase 2): map physical memory according to zones
- ia32: register reserved and ACPI zones
- pareas are now used only for mapping of present physical memory (hw_area() is gone)
- firmware zones and physical addresses outside any zones are allowed to be mapped generally
- fix nasty antient bug in zones_insert_zone()

3957 5650 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/ Unbreak ppc32 candidate.
3941 5651 d 21 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Let IRQ claim methods take irq_t * instead of the instance argument.
3940 5652 d 0 h decky /trunk/kernel/ make hw_area API more generic
this allows mapping of EGA VRAM on ia32/amd64

3922 5654 d 19 h decky /trunk/ make arch_pre_main optional, don't force any specific prototype
simplify boot process
mips32: detect number of configured CPUs in msim

3908 5655 d 23 h decky /trunk/ overhaul pareas: use one single physical area for the physical address space not belonging to physical memory
3906 5656 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ IRQ handlers are using one superfluous argument and an unused elipsis.
On the other hand, IRQ claim functions would need to be passed the instance
argument.

3880 5659 d 21 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ simplify configuration
introduce arch_construct_function and inb/outb (sometimes empty) on all platforms
various code cleanup

3857 5669 d 23 h decky /trunk/ very experimental TLB refill for ppc32
3856 5670 d 1 h decky /trunk/ ppc32: strict coherency, compatible TLB flush
3844 5671 d 20 h decky /trunk/ silent kernel console output when user space console is active
3841 5672 d 0 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/ it is essential to setup the decrementer before potential rescheduling
3839 5672 d 4 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/mm/ respect stricker lookup algorithm (first look for colliding PTEs, then look for unused PTEs)
3838 5672 d 4 h decky /trunk/kernel/ make RANDI a generic macro
3837 5672 d 4 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/ use pseudorandom generator to avoid even the longest path of livelock collisions
3836 5672 d 5 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/mm/ use secondary hash for kernel identity mapping to avoid livelocks on colliding PHT addresses
3833 5673 d 1 h decky /trunk/ avoid nasty race condition during page fault handling
3830 5673 d 23 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/ ppc32: add support for cache disable page access control
3829 5674 d 0 h decky /trunk/ use macio optionally
3827 5674 d 1 h decky /trunk/ remove tlbia instruction, which is unsupported by PowerPC 7450
3790 5695 d 5 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Make newlines in panic messages consistent. Add periods at end of messages so that it is obvious whether they are printed entirely.
3788 5695 d 19 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Unify newlines in fault_if_from_uspace() format strings. (Remove them and print newline automatically). Also start messages with caps.
3738 5710 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/ redraw kernel cosnole on ppc32
3672 5728 d 22 h jermar /trunk/ Merge sparc branch to trunk.
3594 5745 d 22 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/mm/ Handle page faults from userspace properly on ppc32, do not panic.
3586 5751 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Do not print "Page fault.\n" if a mapping is not found during TLB refill.
3585 5751 d 7 h svoboda /trunk/ Fix bug #67. It was obviously all my fault - I allocated r3 for pcb_ptr, which was alredy used by uarg.
3584 5751 d 7 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/mm/ Bugfix: A ppc32 task would hang if it touched unmapped memory - was calling printf() with address-space mutex held.
3222 5879 d 1 h svoboda /trunk/ Merge program-loader related stuff from dynload branch to trunk. (huge)
3200 5884 d 5 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/ Remove buggy assembler memsetb function, call generic C _memsetb instead. Fixes kconsole panic when uspace klog is enabled and memsetb() called from klog_update()
3193 5886 d 21 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ cstyle fixes
3189 5891 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/ Implement memcpy_to_uspace_failover_address for ppc32.
This fixes kernel side of ticket #59.

3071 5914 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/ reflect changes in generic code
proper formatting directives
coding style

2781 5994 d 5 h cejka /trunk/ Unified context saving/restoring macros in ppc32.
2725 6032 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/ remove config.memory_size, get_memory_size() and memory_init.{c|d}
the amount of available memory can be calculated from the sizes of the zones
add FRAMES2SIZE, SIZE2KB and SIZE2MB functions/macros (code readability)

2723 6033 d 2 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ remove memory_print_map(), as it duplicates functionality of physmem_print()
2227 6335 d 11 h decky /trunk/kernel/ start shutdown infrastructure
2222 6335 d 21 h decky /trunk/kernel/ map kernel pages explicitly as writable (this solves compatibility issues with Intel Core 2)
make VESA framebuffer initialization more robust

2218 6336 d 18 h decky /trunk/kernel/ support the possibility to send EOI or Interrupt Acknowledgement
prior to processing the interrupt
(this is essential on some architectures to prevent preemption deadlock)

2170 6343 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Simplify synchronization in as_switch().
The function was oversynchronized, which
was causing deadlocks on the address
space mutex.

Now, address spaces can only be switched
when the asidlock is held. This also protects
stealing of ASIDs. No other synchronization
is necessary.
