3963 5612 d 12 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ The kernel i8042 driver should be instance-neutral.
3948 5613 d 9 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/amd64/ Unbreak amd64.
3940 5614 d 10 h decky /trunk/kernel/ make hw_area API more generic
this allows mapping of EGA VRAM on ia32/amd64

3932 5615 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Kill arch/drivers/ega.h. Provide one-stop shopping
place for architectures with ia32 legacy I/O space.

3929 5615 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Introduce ioport8_t, ioport16_t and ioport32_t. These types are to be used with
pio_read_n() and pio_write_n() functions. This breaks everything.

3908 5618 d 9 h decky /trunk/ overhaul pareas: use one single physical area for the physical address space not belonging to physical memory
3906 5619 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ IRQ handlers are using one superfluous argument and an unused elipsis.
On the other hand, IRQ claim functions would need to be passed the instance
argument.

3902 5619 d 12 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Introduce a more platform-neutral name for programmed I/O.

The new API looks like pio_read_n() or pio_write_n(), where n is 8, 16 or 32.
The old API (i.e. inb(), inw(), inl(), outb() outw(), outl()) may have made
some people think that the interface is only to be used with the separate I/O
space. That's not the case. This API is to be implemented on all platforms
so that we can finally have really generic kernel device drivers.

3892 5620 d 6 h jermar /trunk/ Get rid of CONFIG_DEBUG_AS_WATCHPOINT.
3890 5620 d 7 h jermar /trunk/ Get rid of CONFIG_DEBUG_ALLREGS.
3880 5622 d 7 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ simplify configuration
introduce arch_construct_function and inb/outb (sometimes empty) on all platforms
various code cleanup

3879 5622 d 7 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ simplify configuration in Makefiles
3878 5622 d 7 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ introduce fncptr_t and ioport_t on all platforms
3851 5633 d 10 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/amd64/src/ Fix amd64 UP build.
3838 5634 d 14 h decky /trunk/kernel/ make RANDI a generic macro
3802 5646 d 12 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ fallback to VGA registers if VESA routine fails
3790 5657 d 15 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Make newlines in panic messages consistent. Add periods at end of messages so that it is obvious whether they are printed entirely.
3788 5658 d 4 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Unify newlines in fault_if_from_uspace() format strings. (Remove them and print newline automatically). Also start messages with caps.
3779 5661 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Only one kernel EGA driver to rule them all.
3762 5666 d 5 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/amd64/src/ redraw kernel console
3712 5680 d 5 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/amd64/include/ synchronize drivers with ia32
3711 5680 d 5 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/amd64/include/ remove amd64 drivers
3707 5680 d 8 h decky /trunk/ kconsole is optional
kernel & uspace framebuffer rewrite with speedups (some things are slightly broken yet)

3706 5680 d 8 h decky /trunk/ cstyle & small fixes
3485 5752 d 6 h jermar /trunk/ Support for SYSENTER on ia32.
3380 5787 d 7 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/amd64/include/ Prevent 'tmp' in amd64's atomic_lock_arch() from being allocated
to the same register as 'val->count'.

3369 5791 d 10 h decky /trunk/ configurable cross-compiler prefix (using CROSS_PREFIX)
3274 5808 d 12 h jermar /trunk/ memcpy(), memmove() and similar functions return dst instead of src.
Fix all implementations, including those in assembly. ppc32 assembly
version didn't seem to be affected by this.

3233 5822 d 12 h decky /trunk/ remove dummy page coloring facility, which is currenty not used
3222 5841 d 11 h svoboda /trunk/ Merge program-loader related stuff from dynload branch to trunk. (huge)
3179 5859 d 10 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Introduce the notion of FPU_NO_CFLAGS and separate building of test/fpu
objects and building the rest of kernel objects. Now, amd64 and ia32 can
enable things such as SSE selectively for the test/fpu/*.

3163 5863 d 6 h jermar /trunk/ First argument to atomic functions is read-write (amd64).
3138 5865 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/amd64/src/ Formatting fixes for amd64 debugger.
3104 5873 d 20 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Declare arguments for memstr.h operations as pointers instead of uintptr_t.
3071 5876 d 12 h decky /trunk/kernel/ reflect changes in generic code
proper formatting directives
coding style

3070 5876 d 12 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ introduce portable formatting directives
remove common types

3044 5877 d 6 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/amd64/ Some inline functions in memstr.h seem to be of uncertain origin (amd64).
Replace either with built-in functions or with generic functions.

3040 5877 d 15 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/arch/amd64/include/ Fix register-constraint typo in amd64 memstr.h and add two '&'s for symmetry's sake. (None were really causing trouble)
2797 5937 d 7 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Each architecture should only announce its endianity.
The conversion macros should be defined only once.

2794 5938 d 7 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Add macros for byte swapping of uint16_t's.
