769 6751 d 22 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ SLAB allocator now uses itself for all its internal structures.
Added description of allocator.
Removed messy_stack_trace from amd64, as it would scroll away important
part of exception.

768 6752 d 1 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Debugged slab allocator. It currently supports per-CPU cache on 1 cpu.
767 6752 d 2 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Partially working SLAB CPU cache.
766 6752 d 3 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Basic SLAB (without CPU-cache) passes test.
765 6752 d 3 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Add PAGE_WIDTH to aid divisions by PAGE_SIZE.
764 6752 d 9 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Tested basic non-cached slab allocation.
763 6752 d 10 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Modify frame.h to use shifting instead of multiplication and division.
Define FRAME_WIDTH for all architectures.

762 6752 d 11 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Currently not-working SLAB allocator.
- slightly changed interface to frame_alloc, allow zone preference

759 6752 d 23 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Skeleton of SLAB allocator.
757 6753 d 4 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Blacklist addresses between 0xa0000 and 0xfffff on ia64 for frame allocator.
This area contains VGA text frame buffer and should be avoided.
falloc2 test now passes on ia64.

756 6754 d 1 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Remove the last (i.e. 'root') argument from page_mapping_insert() and page_mapping_find().
Page table address is now extracted from the first (i.e. 'as') argument.
Add a lot of infrastructure to make the above possible.
sparc64 is now broken, most likely because of insufficient identity mapping of physical memory.

755 6755 d 0 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Change page_mapping_find/insert interfaces to take as_t * as first argument
and not asid_t as second argument. This change was necessitated by the
removal of mapping array from as_area_t and the fact that an address
space doesn't have an ASID when it is created.

754 6755 d 1 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Remove address space area mapping array.
The information is to be stored directly in page tables.
This is to better support 64-bit systems which can have
fairly large address space areas.

740 6761 d 10 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ ia64 ASID management code (not tested).
735 6763 d 8 h bondari /kernel/trunk/ Fixes, comments, tests to frame allocator
727 6766 d 2 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ New ASID management subsystem (initial work, more is required).
Some TLB invalidation changes.

724 6768 d 4 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Commit of the falloc_bad branch to trunk (719:723).
718 6770 d 3 h decky /kernel/trunk/ interface change: as_area_load_mapping -> as_area_set_mapping (set single page mapping)
map init directly from the physical frames it is loaded in

711 6770 d 8 h decky /kernel/trunk/generic/src/mm/ fix wrong frame memory access
704 6772 d 8 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Make various mips32 tlb manipulation functions preserve EntryHi register.

Cleanup and more precise comments for previous commit.

703 6772 d 12 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
- vm.* -> as.* (as like address space is, imho, more fitting)
- Don't do TLB shootdown on vm_install(). Some architectures only need to call tlb_invalidate_asid().
- Don't allocate all frames for as_area in as_area_create(), but let them be allocated on-demand by as_page_fault().
- Add high-level page fault handler as_page_fault().
- Add as_area_load_mapping().

701 6775 d 2 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/src/mm/ Fix zone_print_one() and zone_print_list().
- add missing spinlock_unlock()
- add missing interrupts_disable() and interrupts_restore()
Coding style fixes and cleanup.

699 6775 d 11 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Proto-interface and dummy implementation of generic page hash table subsytem.

689 6777 d 8 h bondari /kernel/trunk/ Frame alloc test #1
687 6777 d 8 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Pass address space identifier to functions in page_operations to support single global page hash table.

686 6777 d 9 h bondari /kernel/trunk/generic/ Minor changes to 'zone' command
684 6777 d 10 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Move generic 4-level page table interface to genarch
and enable architectures to use different virtual memory
mechanisms (e.g. page hash tables).
Start page hash table support.
Switch ia64 and sparc64 to page hash tables.
Other architectures keep on using 4-level page table interface.

683 6777 d 10 h bondari /kernel/trunk/generic/ Console command 'zone' now takes zone address as parameter.
Added buddy system statistics into the 'zone' command.

677 6781 d 6 h bondari /kernel/trunk/generic/src/ Comments to zone console commands
676 6781 d 6 h bondari /kernel/trunk/generic/ Memory zones console command implementation. todo: buddy allocator structures.
654 6796 d 7 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/src/ Fix page_insert_mapping().
Some architectures (e.g. ia32) need to have the lower-numbered PTL's flagged as PAGE_WRITE in order to prevent overriding protection bits of leaf TTE's.

629 6801 d 5 h decky /kernel/trunk/ init task loading (yet buggy)
625 6801 d 9 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ We are now almost -Wall clean.
- redefined atomic_t
- deleted many, many unused variables
- some minor code cleanups found using compiler warning.

624 6801 d 9 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Add LIST_INITIALIZE() macro to declare and initialize statically allocated lists.
623 6801 d 14 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Add SPINLOCK_DECLARE and SPINLOCK_INITIALIZE macros.
SPINLOCK_DECLARE is to be used instead of direct spinlock_t declarations
in dynamically allocated structures on which spinlock_initialize() is called after
their creation.
SPINLOCK_INITIALIZE is to be used instead of direct spinlock_t declarations
of global spinlocks. It declares and initializes the spinlock.
Moreover, both macros are empty on UP so that -Wall warnings about unused structures
get supressed.

615 6803 d 13 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Cleanups to make it compile with -Wall. Did not catch everything yet.
596 6806 d 1 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ kconsole cleanup.
Separate commands from the engine.

594 6806 d 5 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ ptlb command (currently usable on mips32 only).
591 6806 d 7 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/src/ Fixes in new console.
590 6806 d 7 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Move all MIPS exceptions to generic dispatcher.
Align size in malloc() to __native size, some architectures
don't like it unaligned.
