814 6735 d 0 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Cleanup o frame allocator.
Removed early_malloc & initial heap.
Will break ia64, ppc & sparc.
Added e820 table print.

793 6736 d 21 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Use hash_table_get_instance instead of list_get_instance.
Rename page_operations to page_mapping_operations.
Rename page_pt_operations to pt_mapping_operations.
Rename page_ht_operations to ht_mapping_operations.

791 6737 d 11 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ better utilization of memory in slab alloc
removed malloc-8 slab

789 6737 d 15 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Early SLAB initialization, the cpu-cache is initialized later.
If you want to use slab_cache_create befor slab_cpu_enable, add
a flag SLAB_CACHE_MAGDEFERRED.

788 6737 d 18 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Move list and fifo data types to adt/.
787 6737 d 19 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Added constructor/destructor calls to SLAB.
Changed allocation of thread_t structure to use SLAB.

786 6737 d 20 h bondari /kernel/trunk/ frame_alloc() functions variations in order to avoid problems with frame_alloc_generic() changes.
IMPORTANT: Parameter order for frame_alloc() was changed

781 6738 d 11 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Still better locking - does not hold global spinlock when
destroying cache.

778 6738 d 17 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Fixed boot process not to call malloc when slab not initialized.
Added simics workaround.

776 6738 d 21 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Added more granular locking to slab allocator and thus fix
hopefully last race condition.

771 6739 d 13 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Implemented malloc/free as SLABs.
767 6740 d 14 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Partially working SLAB CPU cache.
766 6740 d 15 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Basic SLAB (without CPU-cache) passes test.
764 6740 d 20 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Tested basic non-cached slab allocation.
763 6740 d 21 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Modify frame.h to use shifting instead of multiplication and division.
Define FRAME_WIDTH for all architectures.

762 6740 d 22 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Currently not-working SLAB allocator.
- slightly changed interface to frame_alloc, allow zone preference

759 6741 d 11 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Skeleton of SLAB allocator.
756 6742 d 12 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Remove the last (i.e. 'root') argument from page_mapping_insert() and page_mapping_find().
Page table address is now extracted from the first (i.e. 'as') argument.
Add a lot of infrastructure to make the above possible.
sparc64 is now broken, most likely because of insufficient identity mapping of physical memory.

755 6743 d 12 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Change page_mapping_find/insert interfaces to take as_t * as first argument
and not asid_t as second argument. This change was necessitated by the
removal of mapping array from as_area_t and the fact that an address
space doesn't have an ASID when it is created.

754 6743 d 13 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Remove address space area mapping array.
The information is to be stored directly in page tables.
This is to better support 64-bit systems which can have
fairly large address space areas.

735 6751 d 20 h bondari /kernel/trunk/ Fixes, comments, tests to frame allocator
730 6752 d 19 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Finalize ASID management for sparc64 and mips32 by making use of FIFO queue of ASIDs.
727 6754 d 14 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ New ASID management subsystem (initial work, more is required).
Some TLB invalidation changes.

724 6756 d 15 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Commit of the falloc_bad branch to trunk (719:723).
718 6758 d 15 h decky /kernel/trunk/ interface change: as_area_load_mapping -> as_area_set_mapping (set single page mapping)
map init directly from the physical frames it is loaded in

703 6760 d 23 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
- vm.* -> as.* (as like address space is, imho, more fitting)
- Don't do TLB shootdown on vm_install(). Some architectures only need to call tlb_invalidate_asid().
- Don't allocate all frames for as_area in as_area_create(), but let them be allocated on-demand by as_page_fault().
- Add high-level page fault handler as_page_fault().
- Add as_area_load_mapping().

699 6763 d 23 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Proto-interface and dummy implementation of generic page hash table subsytem.

689 6765 d 20 h bondari /kernel/trunk/ Frame alloc test #1
687 6765 d 20 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Pass address space identifier to functions in page_operations to support single global page hash table.

686 6765 d 21 h bondari /kernel/trunk/generic/ Minor changes to 'zone' command
684 6765 d 21 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Move generic 4-level page table interface to genarch
and enable architectures to use different virtual memory
mechanisms (e.g. page hash tables).
Start page hash table support.
Switch ia64 and sparc64 to page hash tables.
Other architectures keep on using 4-level page table interface.

683 6765 d 22 h bondari /kernel/trunk/generic/ Console command 'zone' now takes zone address as parameter.
Added buddy system statistics into the 'zone' command.

676 6769 d 18 h bondari /kernel/trunk/generic/ Memory zones console command implementation. todo: buddy allocator structures.
629 6789 d 17 h decky /kernel/trunk/ init task loading (yet buggy)
624 6789 d 21 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Add LIST_INITIALIZE() macro to declare and initialize statically allocated lists.
623 6790 d 2 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Add SPINLOCK_DECLARE and SPINLOCK_INITIALIZE macros.
SPINLOCK_DECLARE is to be used instead of direct spinlock_t declarations
in dynamically allocated structures on which spinlock_initialize() is called after
their creation.
SPINLOCK_INITIALIZE is to be used instead of direct spinlock_t declarations
of global spinlocks. It declares and initializes the spinlock.
Moreover, both macros are empty on UP so that -Wall warnings about unused structures
get supressed.

597 6793 d 23 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Finer grained TLB invalidate functions for ia32 and amd64. Not yet deployed.
594 6794 d 17 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ ptlb command (currently usable on mips32 only).
569 6796 d 14 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ sparc64 work.
Implement functions for reading IMMU and DMMU TLBs.

564 6797 d 13 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Send in some improvements.
