778 6758 d 9 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Fixed boot process not to call malloc when slab not initialized.
Added simics workaround.

776 6758 d 13 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Added more granular locking to slab allocator and thus fix
hopefully last race condition.

771 6759 d 4 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Implemented malloc/free as SLABs.
767 6760 d 5 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Partially working SLAB CPU cache.
766 6760 d 6 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Basic SLAB (without CPU-cache) passes test.
764 6760 d 11 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Tested basic non-cached slab allocation.
763 6760 d 13 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Modify frame.h to use shifting instead of multiplication and division.
Define FRAME_WIDTH for all architectures.

762 6760 d 14 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Currently not-working SLAB allocator.
- slightly changed interface to frame_alloc, allow zone preference

759 6761 d 2 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Skeleton of SLAB allocator.
756 6762 d 4 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Remove the last (i.e. 'root') argument from page_mapping_insert() and page_mapping_find().
Page table address is now extracted from the first (i.e. 'as') argument.
Add a lot of infrastructure to make the above possible.
sparc64 is now broken, most likely because of insufficient identity mapping of physical memory.

755 6763 d 3 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Change page_mapping_find/insert interfaces to take as_t * as first argument
and not asid_t as second argument. This change was necessitated by the
removal of mapping array from as_area_t and the fact that an address
space doesn't have an ASID when it is created.

754 6763 d 4 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Remove address space area mapping array.
The information is to be stored directly in page tables.
This is to better support 64-bit systems which can have
fairly large address space areas.

735 6771 d 11 h bondari /kernel/trunk/ Fixes, comments, tests to frame allocator
730 6772 d 10 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Finalize ASID management for sparc64 and mips32 by making use of FIFO queue of ASIDs.
727 6774 d 5 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ New ASID management subsystem (initial work, more is required).
Some TLB invalidation changes.

724 6776 d 7 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Commit of the falloc_bad branch to trunk (719:723).
718 6778 d 6 h decky /kernel/trunk/ interface change: as_area_load_mapping -> as_area_set_mapping (set single page mapping)
map init directly from the physical frames it is loaded in

703 6780 d 15 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
- vm.* -> as.* (as like address space is, imho, more fitting)
- Don't do TLB shootdown on vm_install(). Some architectures only need to call tlb_invalidate_asid().
- Don't allocate all frames for as_area in as_area_create(), but let them be allocated on-demand by as_page_fault().
- Add high-level page fault handler as_page_fault().
- Add as_area_load_mapping().

699 6783 d 14 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Proto-interface and dummy implementation of generic page hash table subsytem.

689 6785 d 11 h bondari /kernel/trunk/ Frame alloc test #1
687 6785 d 11 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Pass address space identifier to functions in page_operations to support single global page hash table.

686 6785 d 12 h bondari /kernel/trunk/generic/ Minor changes to 'zone' command
684 6785 d 13 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Memory management work.
Move generic 4-level page table interface to genarch
and enable architectures to use different virtual memory
mechanisms (e.g. page hash tables).
Start page hash table support.
Switch ia64 and sparc64 to page hash tables.
Other architectures keep on using 4-level page table interface.

683 6785 d 13 h bondari /kernel/trunk/generic/ Console command 'zone' now takes zone address as parameter.
Added buddy system statistics into the 'zone' command.

676 6789 d 9 h bondari /kernel/trunk/generic/ Memory zones console command implementation. todo: buddy allocator structures.
629 6809 d 8 h decky /kernel/trunk/ init task loading (yet buggy)
624 6809 d 12 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Add LIST_INITIALIZE() macro to declare and initialize statically allocated lists.
623 6809 d 17 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Add SPINLOCK_DECLARE and SPINLOCK_INITIALIZE macros.
SPINLOCK_DECLARE is to be used instead of direct spinlock_t declarations
in dynamically allocated structures on which spinlock_initialize() is called after
their creation.
SPINLOCK_INITIALIZE is to be used instead of direct spinlock_t declarations
of global spinlocks. It declares and initializes the spinlock.
Moreover, both macros are empty on UP so that -Wall warnings about unused structures
get supressed.

597 6813 d 14 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Finer grained TLB invalidate functions for ia32 and amd64. Not yet deployed.
594 6814 d 8 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ ptlb command (currently usable on mips32 only).
569 6816 d 5 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ sparc64 work.
Implement functions for reading IMMU and DMMU TLBs.

538 6819 d 10 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Buddy allocator cleanup and fixes II.
- Rewrite IS_BUDDY_LEFT_BLOCK so that it does not need floating point on some architectures (e.g. IA-64).
- Get rid of IS_BUDDY_RIGHT_BLOCK.
- Make sparc64 use zone_create_in_region.

537 6819 d 11 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Buddy system cleanup and fixes.

- truncating black list addresses to frame boundaries
- removal of left-over obsolete structures
- fixing some comments

533 6820 d 8 h bondari /SPARTAN/trunk/ Buddy allocator for physical memory complete implementation.
Tested on IA32, AMD64, MIPS32. RWLock Test #5 is not passed.
NOTE: Other architectures could be broken (but should not be)

532 6820 d 8 h jermar / Revert renaming of HelenOS/SPARTAN to HelenOS/kernel because of important pending patch.
501 6832 d 13 h jermar / Rename HelenOS/SPARTAN to HelenOS/kernel.
