2817 6055 d 12 h svoboda /branches/tracing/kernel/generic/ Add REGS_READ and REGS_WRITE debug methods to access userspace register state (no effect yet)
2805 6057 d 15 h svoboda /branches/tracing/ add ipc call to retrieve syscall arguments
2801 6057 d 21 h svoboda /branches/tracing/ [tracing] initial debug interface support
2799 6057 d 22 h svoboda /branches/tracing/ Revert all changes in tracing branch (sync to r2785 of trunk)
2787 6066 d 14 h decky /branches/tracing/ add dynamic linking, debugging and tracing branch
2502 6308 d 17 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Replace the threads_btree B+tree with an AVL tree. The new variable is called
threads_tree. For printing list of threads, use the new AVL tree walker
mechanism.

This solves half of ticket #48.

2451 6363 d 11 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ JoinMe -> Lingering
2446 6366 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ More efficient and simpler task termination.

Based on the assumption, that after its creation, only the task itself can create more threads for itself,
the last thread with userspace context to execute thread_exit() will perform futex and IPC cleanup. When
the task has no threads, it is destroyed. Both the cleanup and destruction is controlled by reference
counting.

As for userspace threads, even though there could be a global garbage collector for joining threads, it is
much simpler if the uinit thread detaches itself before switching to userspace.

task_kill() is now an idempotent operation. It just instructs the threads within a task to exit.

Change in the name of a thread state: Undead -> JoinMe.

2440 6367 d 9 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Fix the problem with sys_thread_create() by splitting the create and attach functionality of
thread_create(). Now it is possible to specify a flag that will cause thread_create() to only allocate and
initialize the thread structure. A call to thread_attach() will make the thread visible to the system.
This arrangement makes it easier to undo creation of a thread in case of a failure in sys_thread_create().

2268 6410 d 11 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Document and assert proper usage of THREAD_FLAG_WIRED.
Original patch by Jan Hudecek.

2216 6421 d 10 h decky /trunk/ make thread ID 64 bit (task ID is 64 bit already)
cleanup thread syscalls

2187 6422 d 18 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ add syscall for getting current thread ID
2109 6483 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Revert thread_interrupt_sleep() to waitq_interrupt_sleep().
I'd prefer that this, IMO, waitq related stuff stays together.

2106 6484 d 17 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Merge as_t structure into one and leave the differring parts in as_genarch_t.

Indentation and formatting changes in header files.

2103 6489 d 11 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/include/ move timeout_t to timeout.h
move other helper types to thread.h

2096 6489 d 13 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/include/ move thread_t to thread.h
2093 6489 d 13 h decky /trunk/kernel/ spinlock extern declaration macro
2089 6490 d 17 h decky /trunk/ huge type system cleanup
remove cyclical type dependencies across multiple header files
many minor coding style fixes

2080 6496 d 18 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/include/ another typedef to anonymous enum
2071 6501 d 10 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
2042 6535 d 14 h decky /trunk/kernel/ introduce uncounted threads, whose accounting doesn't affect accumulated task accounting
run tests in kconsole thread again

2031 6536 d 18 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/include/proc/ fix comment
2030 6536 d 18 h decky /trunk/kernel/ thread CPU cycles accounting
1888 6626 d 13 h jermar /trunk/ C99 compliant header guards (hopefully) everywhere in the kernel.
Formatting and indentation changes.
Small improvements in sparc64.

1854 6642 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Define architecture-specific thread sub-constructors and sub-destructors on all architectures.
Define the THREAD_FLAG_USPACE which means that the thread runs in user space.
The forementioned changes allow for allocating of user window buffer on sparc64
threads that execute in userspace.

A lot of formatting and indentation fixes.

1839 6666 d 14 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ finish security context isolation
1820 6674 d 7 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ initial security context support
1787 6691 d 12 h decky / move kernel/trunk, uspace/trunk and boot/trunk to trunk/kernel, trunk/uspace and trunk/boot
1780 6698 d 13 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Replace old __u?? types with respective C99 variants (e.g. uint32_t, int64_t, uintptr_t etc.).
1702 6719 d 16 h cejka /kernel/trunk/ Kernel doxygen comments updated.
1661 6724 d 21 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Collect Undead threads while waiting to join uinit.
Rename ktaskkill to ktaskgc.

1595 6726 d 23 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Added kernel circular buffer klog.
Added automatic killing of tasks raising inappropriate exceptions.
TODO: Fix vsnprintf return value(and behaviour according to specs) and remove workaround in klog.

1579 6728 d 9 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Framework for task_kill().
Some pieces (e.g. implementation of ktask_cleanup() kernel thread and
task_destroy() function) are missing.
Changed locking order for task lock, threads_lock and thread lock from
threads_lock, thread lock, task lock to task lock, threads_lock, thread lock.

1576 6728 d 11 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Make use of thread_join_timeout() and thread_detach() in kernel.

Improved comments in slab.h.

1571 6728 d 13 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ thread_join_timeout() and thread_detach() implementation.
Needs more thorough testing.

1502 6730 d 18 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Replace nonblocking argument of waitq_sleep_timeout with flags that specify mode of operation.
Now a flag can be used to specify interruptible sleep.
Modify waitq_interrupt_sleep() to only interrupt threads that used this flag.
O

1288 6758 d 19 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Complete implementation of copy_from_uspace() and copy_to_uspace()
for amd64 and ia32. Other architectures still compile and run,
but need to implement their own assembly-only memcpy(), memcpy_from_uspace(),
memcpy_to_uspace() and their failover parts. For these architectures
only dummy implementations are provided.

1184 6780 d 16 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Move arch/thread.h to arch/proc/thread.h on all architectures.
Replace ARCH_THREAD_DATA with new thread_arch_t arch on all architectures.
Similarily, add task_arch_t arch on all architectures.
On amd64 and ia32, grow the TSS segment by 64K + 1B to support IO port
permission bitmap. For the same reason, define per task IO port permission bitmaps
on ia32 and amd64.

1171 6781 d 22 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Initialize ARCH_THREAD_DATA on all architectures.
On ia32 and amd64 this fixes bug caused by uninitialized TLS pointer.
