3514 5743 d 19 h rimsky /branches/sparc/ Input support added to SGCN driver, connected to HelenOS kernel (uspace TBD), so that kconsole is usable.
3492 5755 d 23 h rimsky /branches/sparc/ Changes in trunk merged into the sparc branch. SILO's ramdisk issue solved by the CONFIG_RD_EXTERNAL option.
3467 5777 d 20 h rimsky /branches/sparc/ SMP and CPU initialiation modified to work even with Serengeti OFW tree layout; support for output to the Simics CLI console added (see my blog); some header files modified to conform US-III definition. Now HelenOS (on the sample configuration - usiii.simics) is able to run some userspace tasks.
3397 5788 d 4 h rimsky /branches/sparc/ Merged recent changes from trunk into the Sparc branch.
3365 5805 d 19 h rimsky /branches/sparc/ Integrated US-III port into the build process; added script for downloading and patching SILO; added patched SILO binaries; modified sources of the Sparc64 port up to the beginning of the main_bsp_separated_stack function: phys. address size not hardwired but configurable (41 bits on US-II, 43 bits on US-III), WSTATE register implicitly written 0 on startup.
3343 5812 d 1 h decky /branches/sparc/ add sparc branch
3222 5854 d 1 h svoboda /trunk/ Merge program-loader related stuff from dynload branch to trunk. (huge)
3193 5861 d 21 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ cstyle fixes
3181 5871 d 7 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ cstyle for kinit.c and scheduler.c
3175 5873 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/main/ Don't print anything before the kernel initializes the first THE
structure. This fixes a regression introduced in r3061. If anything
worked from r3061 until now, it was only due to luck. arm32 was not
that lucky when built with gcc 4.3.1.

3097 5887 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/ resurrect klog
3061 5889 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/main/ debugging output of kernel initialization
3060 5889 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/main/ run init tasks after they are all loaded
3029 5893 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ fix kernel ramdisk support
2746 5986 d 1 h decky /trunk/kernel/ start merging tasklets (more or less a rewrite)
2745 5986 d 6 h decky /trunk/ code cleanup (mostly signed/unsigned)
allow extra compiler warnings

2725 6007 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/ remove config.memory_size, get_memory_size() and memory_init.{c|d}
the amount of available memory can be calculated from the sizes of the zones
add FRAMES2SIZE, SIZE2KB and SIZE2MB functions/macros (code readability)

2701 6019 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Fix cstyle and (c) to 2008.
2447 6257 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/main/ Split accidently joined lines.
2446 6257 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ More efficient and simpler task termination.

Based on the assumption, that after its creation, only the task itself can create more threads for itself,
the last thread with userspace context to execute thread_exit() will perform futex and IPC cleanup. When
the task has no threads, it is destroyed. Both the cleanup and destruction is controlled by reference
counting.

As for userspace threads, even though there could be a global garbage collector for joining threads, it is
much simpler if the uinit thread detaches itself before switching to userspace.

task_kill() is now an idempotent operation. It just instructs the threads within a task to exit.

Change in the name of a thread state: Undead -> JoinMe.

2445 6257 d 3 h decky /trunk/ initial merge of branches/fs
(not finished, huge cleanup is needed)

2227 6310 d 11 h decky /trunk/kernel/ start shutdown infrastructure
2223 6310 d 18 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ add mcall0 command (calling a function on each CPU)
2118 6373 d 2 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ explicit typecast, fix signed/unsigned comparison
2089 6381 d 4 h decky /trunk/ huge type system cleanup
remove cyclical type dependencies across multiple header files
many minor coding style fixes

2087 6382 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Indentaion and formatting changes even Martin will like :-)
2071 6391 d 21 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
2070 6392 d 4 h jermar /trunk/ Rather big indentation and formatting changes.
More inteligent long line wrapping.

2066 6404 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/main/ Formatting changes.
Bump year in kernel copyright.

2048 6423 d 22 h jermar /trunk/ Formatting and indentation changes.
2042 6426 d 1 h decky /trunk/kernel/ introduce uncounted threads, whose accounting doesn't affect accumulated task accounting
run tests in kconsole thread again

2039 6426 d 5 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ accumulate task accounting, run tests as separate kernel task
2019 6428 d 23 h decky /trunk/kernel/ prepare for new test infrastructure
2015 6430 d 21 h jermar /trunk/ Rework support for virtually indexed cache.
Instead of repeatedly flushing the data cache, which was a huge overkill, refuse to create an illegal address alias
in the kernel (again) and allocate appropriate page color in userspace instead. Extend the detection also to
SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP syscall.

Add support for tracking physical memory areas mappable by SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP.

Lots of coding style changes.

2005 6440 d 2 h decky /trunk/ update rd
2002 6440 d 4 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ rd work
2000 6442 d 6 h decky /trunk/kernel/ move files to more proper locations
1999 6442 d 7 h decky /trunk/ start RAM disk support
1901 6505 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Make SMP related parts of main.c more generic.
Move initialization of local APIC to architecture specific code.
Add arch_post_cpu_init() to support the above.

1894 6511 d 19 h jermar /trunk/ Add balloc() (a.k.a boot allocator):
- balloc() only needs to know how to allocate memory.
- Memory allocated via balloc() is supposed to be passed to kernel and never freed by boot itself.
- make kernel aware of boot allocations

More work on OFW device tree:
- use balloc() to efficiently and safely allocate memory for the canonical copy of the device tree

sparc64 boot:
- pass OFW device tree root node pointer to kernel
