2494 6255 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Implement a new mechanism for copying data between two address spaces based on
IPC. New system method IPC_M_DATA_SEND is introduced. The implementation is
generic and does not make use of any possible architecture optimizations such as
direct copy from one address space to another.

2472 6279 d 1 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ Some left-over stuff from the last commit (IPC cleanup and improved
comments.)

2471 6279 d 1 h jermar /trunk/ Greatly improve comments in the IPC layer.
Now I think I finally start to understand our IPC internals :-)

2359 6309 d 10 h jermar /trunk/ Improve comments for the IPC subsystem.
Fix formatting and indentation.

2310 6320 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Cleanup the waitq_wakeup() interface.
Replace numeric constants (i.e. 0)
and boolean constants (i.e. false) with
more readable WAKEUP_FIRST. Also change the
type of the second argument of waitq_wakeup()
to a newly introduced type wakeup_mode_t.

Fix behaviour of waitq_wakeup() in case
that WAKEUP_ALL semantics is required
but no threads are sleeping in the wait
queue. This is a similar fix to that of
Jan Hudecek committed in the RCU branch,
but, IMHO, is more straightforward and
also doesn't eat up previous missed
wakeups.

2216 6350 d 0 h decky /trunk/ make thread ID 64 bit (task ID is 64 bit already)
cleanup thread syscalls

2183 6352 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Continue to de-oversynchronize the kernel.
- replace as->refcount with an atomic counter; accesses to this
reference counter are not to be done when the as->lock mutex is held;
this gets us rid of mutex_lock_active();

Remove the possibility of a deadlock between TLB shootdown and asidlock.
- get rid of mutex_lock_active() on as->lock
- when locking the asidlock spinlock, always do it conditionally and with
preemption disabled; in the unsuccessful case, enable interrupts and try again
- there should be no deadlock between TLB shootdown and the as->lock mutexes
- PLEASE REVIEW !!!

Add DEADLOCK_PROBE's to places where we have spinlock_trylock() loops.

2098 6418 d 2 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ avoid conflict with potential keyword
2071 6430 d 0 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
2064 6443 d 23 h vana /trunk/ SIMICS added as a simulator kernel runs on
1933 6521 d 23 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Implement efficient IPC notification cleanup.
1932 6522 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Do not copy notification config out of the IRQ structure.
Add the notify member, that toggles notifications on and off instead.
This is good for preventing other tasks from registering the notification
while the notification config is stored outside the IRQ structure.
It should also help to implement the cleanup code.

1923 6523 d 0 h jermar /trunk/ Replace the old IRQ dispatcher and IPC notifier with new implementation.
Note that all architectures except for sparc64 are now broken
and don't even compile.

1888 6555 d 3 h jermar /trunk/ C99 compliant header guards (hopefully) everywhere in the kernel.
Formatting and indentation changes.
Small improvements in sparc64.

1875 6562 d 1 h jermar /trunk/ sparc64 work.
- Changes to enable userspace keyboard drivers.
- Fix z8530 initialization (i.e. clear any pending Tx interrupts).
- Experimental support for framebuffers with inverted colors.

1787 6620 d 2 h decky / move kernel/trunk, uspace/trunk and boot/trunk to trunk/kernel, trunk/uspace and trunk/boot
1780 6627 d 3 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Replace old __u?? types with respective C99 variants (e.g. uint32_t, int64_t, uintptr_t etc.).
1757 6641 d 8 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Cleanup of comments.
1735 6643 d 10 h decky /kernel/trunk/ make kernel prints case consistent
1708 6645 d 9 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Fix some broken doxygen comments.
1705 6647 d 9 h cejka /kernel/trunk/ Added file with modules definitions and descriptions.
We are able to change modules order and their description in one place.

1702 6648 d 6 h cejka /kernel/trunk/ Kernel doxygen comments updated.
1698 6649 d 0 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/src/ipc/ Improve comments.
Replace 'process' with 'task'.

1693 6650 d 3 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Modified ipc/irq to be able to pass up to 3 arguments to userspace.
1669 6653 d 3 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/src/ipc/ Small consitency ipc update.
1628 6654 d 21 h decky /kernel/trunk/ fixes
1625 6654 d 21 h decky /kernel/trunk/ ppc32 uspace keyboard support
1595 6655 d 13 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Added kernel circular buffer klog.
Added automatic killing of tasks raising inappropriate exceptions.
TODO: Fix vsnprintf return value(and behaviour according to specs) and remove workaround in klog.

1591 6655 d 22 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Small updates to ipc.
1582 6656 d 10 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Modified ipc_cleanup.
1573 6657 d 3 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Renamed some things in IPC to be consistent.
Added ipc reporting to kconsole.

1568 6657 d 5 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Slightly remodelled ipc hangups to facilitate correct cleanup.
Doc updates for frame allocator.

1507 6659 d 6 h vana /kernel/trunk/ IA64 uspace keyboard kernel part
1502 6659 d 8 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Replace nonblocking argument of waitq_sleep_timeout with flags that specify mode of operation.
Now a flag can be used to specify interruptible sleep.
Modify waitq_interrupt_sleep() to only interrupt threads that used this flag.

1461 6661 d 6 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Slightly changed semantics of AS_AREA_SEND/RECV.
1434 6664 d 2 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Added 'realtime' clock interface.
Added some asm macros as memory barriers.
Added drift computing for mips platform.

1428 6664 d 22 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Added 256K slab, so that AMD can boot (until ELF loader is fixed).
Added AS_AREA_RECV so that the caller can receive AS_AREA.

1417 6666 d 23 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Modify as_area_share() to accept destination area flags bitmask from the sender
(i.e. the sender can limit access mode to the shared area for the recipient).
Modify IPC_M_AS_AREA_SEND code to support this. Arguments for sender: arg1=as_area,
arg2=size, arg3=flags_mask.

The mechanism seems to work, but the page fault handlers need to be altered to
distinguish between faults under different access modes.

1413 6667 d 22 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Reimplement memory sharing. Currently, only
anonymous address space areas can be shared.

1396 6671 d 0 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Fixed mips to compile with fb (missing hw_map).
Fixed mips hw virt/phys addresses of fb.
Moved fb_init to post_mm, because it needs malloc().
