3207 5876 d 12 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Introduce FRAME_LOW_16_GiB slab/frame allocator flag. When specified, the
allocators will not allocate memory above 16 GiB. Each architecture needs to
make sure not to merge zones from below and above 16 GiB. Allocations that
require memory below 16 GiB need to be altered to use this flag.

3206 5876 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Avoid deadlock during the 'zone n' kconsole command. Buddy allocator detail is
no longer printed because the effort to avoid the deadlock was simply not worth
it.

3182 5890 d 17 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/include/mm/ cstyle for slab.h
2745 6006 d 20 h decky /trunk/ code cleanup (mostly signed/unsigned)
allow extra compiler warnings

2725 6027 d 17 h decky /trunk/kernel/ remove config.memory_size, get_memory_size() and memory_init.{c|d}
the amount of available memory can be calculated from the sizes of the zones
add FRAMES2SIZE, SIZE2KB and SIZE2MB functions/macros (code readability)

2556 6157 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Rename as_get_size() to as_area_get_size() and add a doxygen comment.
2465 6270 d 16 h jermar /trunk/ Merge arm32 into trunk.
2444 6278 d 8 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ First fixes for suncc support.
It is going to be a long way...

2183 6334 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Continue to de-oversynchronize the kernel.
- replace as->refcount with an atomic counter; accesses to this
reference counter are not to be done when the as->lock mutex is held;
this gets us rid of mutex_lock_active();

Remove the possibility of a deadlock between TLB shootdown and asidlock.
- get rid of mutex_lock_active() on as->lock
- when locking the asidlock spinlock, always do it conditionally and with
preemption disabled; in the unsuccessful case, enable interrupts and try again
- there should be no deadlock between TLB shootdown and the as->lock mutexes
- PLEASE REVIEW !!!

Add DEADLOCK_PROBE's to places where we have spinlock_trylock() loops.

2170 6339 d 9 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Simplify synchronization in as_switch().
The function was oversynchronized, which
was causing deadlocks on the address
space mutex.

Now, address spaces can only be switched
when the asidlock is held. This also protects
stealing of ASIDs. No other synchronization
is necessary.

2142 6342 d 16 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/include/mm/ Remove out of date comment.
2126 6387 d 9 h decky /trunk/kernel/ small cleanup, more work coming
2125 6387 d 11 h decky /trunk/ experimental support for Objective C
(disabled by default)

2124 6387 d 13 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ implement simple realloc()
2122 6393 d 16 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ explicit typecast, fix signed/unsigned comparison
2107 6395 d 10 h jermar /trunk/ When clock() is called by an external interrupt dispatched by the IRQ dispatcher,
no spinlock can be held or the kernel will not be preemptive. This fixes Ticket #24.

Formating and indentation fixes.

2106 6395 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Merge as_t structure into one and leave the differring parts in as_genarch_t.

Indentation and formatting changes in header files.

2094 6400 d 14 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ avoid conflict with potential keyword
2093 6400 d 14 h decky /trunk/kernel/ spinlock extern declaration macro
2089 6401 d 18 h decky /trunk/ huge type system cleanup
remove cyclical type dependencies across multiple header files
many minor coding style fixes

2085 6407 d 17 h decky /trunk/kernel/ typedef elimination
2083 6407 d 18 h decky /trunk/kernel/ typedef elimination
2071 6412 d 11 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
2059 6435 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Improve indentation and formatting.
2015 6451 d 11 h jermar /trunk/ Rework support for virtually indexed cache.
Instead of repeatedly flushing the data cache, which was a huge overkill, refuse to create an illegal address alias
in the kernel (again) and allocate appropriate page color in userspace instead. Extend the detection also to
SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP syscall.

Add support for tracking physical memory areas mappable by SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP.

Lots of coding style changes.

2009 6456 d 10 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Initial support for handling illegal virtual aliases on sparc64.
2007 6459 d 9 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Introduce page colors. So far, only sparc64 uses correct page color bits. Other architectures have a dummy define
specifying zero bits for a page color.

There is a new check of page color in as_area_share(). Because of lack of support for this in the userspace, the
check has been #ifef'ed out.

2001 6462 d 8 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Indentation and comment fixes.
2000 6462 d 20 h decky /trunk/kernel/ move files to more proper locations
1999 6462 d 20 h decky /trunk/ start RAM disk support
1951 6499 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/include/mm/ Fix comma mistakenly removed in last commit.
1950 6499 d 14 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Indentation changes and coding style fixes in slab.c and slab.h.
1941 6503 d 14 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/include/ cleanup
1914 6513 d 17 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Add function for printing out info about address space.
1891 6533 d 9 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ sparc64 work:
- Experimental support for TSB (Translation Storage Buffer).

1890 6533 d 20 h jermar /trunk/ - Create a dedicated slab cache for as_t objects and switch from malloc/free to slab_alloc/slab_free for
them.

- Slightly fix and improve both the kernel and userspace atomic_add() on sparc64.

- More TSB work on the sparc64 front.

1889 6534 d 11 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Fix bug in mm/as.c:
- as_area_destroy() should not work with AS but as

sparc64 work:
- start implementing TSB support

1888 6537 d 14 h jermar /trunk/ C99 compliant header guards (hopefully) everywhere in the kernel.
Formatting and indentation changes.
Small improvements in sparc64.

1868 6546 d 16 h jermar /trunk/ sparc64 work.
- the syscall wrapper needs to use the "memory"
clobber specifier to prevent over-optimization.
- on sparc64, the user address space spans the whole
64-bit space and therefore the macro
USER_ADDRESS_SPACE_SIZE_ARCH, as it was defined,
overflows to 0
- stop using USER_ADDRESS_SPACE_SIZE_ARCH and define
MAX_HEAP_SIZE instead
- in our situation when kernel and user address spaces
are separate, the G (global) bit cannot be used
(there is no point in it anymore)
- add the DEBUG() macro to stdio.h; DEBUG() uses
SYS_IO and is a good debugging tool for getting
early userspace to work

1854 6553 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Define architecture-specific thread sub-constructors and sub-destructors on all architectures.
Define the THREAD_FLAG_USPACE which means that the thread runs in user space.
The forementioned changes allow for allocating of user window buffer on sparc64
threads that execute in userspace.

A lot of formatting and indentation fixes.
