2556 6134 d 11 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Rename as_get_size() to as_area_get_size() and add a doxygen comment.
2494 6214 d 1 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Implement a new mechanism for copying data between two address spaces based on
IPC. New system method IPC_M_DATA_SEND is introduced. The implementation is
generic and does not make use of any possible architecture optimizations such as
direct copy from one address space to another.

2472 6238 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ Some left-over stuff from the last commit (IPC cleanup and improved
comments.)

2471 6238 d 2 h jermar /trunk/ Greatly improve comments in the IPC layer.
Now I think I finally start to understand our IPC internals :-)

2359 6268 d 11 h jermar /trunk/ Improve comments for the IPC subsystem.
Fix formatting and indentation.

2310 6279 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Cleanup the waitq_wakeup() interface.
Replace numeric constants (i.e. 0)
and boolean constants (i.e. false) with
more readable WAKEUP_FIRST. Also change the
type of the second argument of waitq_wakeup()
to a newly introduced type wakeup_mode_t.

Fix behaviour of waitq_wakeup() in case
that WAKEUP_ALL semantics is required
but no threads are sleeping in the wait
queue. This is a similar fix to that of
Jan Hudecek committed in the RCU branch,
but, IMHO, is more straightforward and
also doesn't eat up previous missed
wakeups.

2216 6309 d 2 h decky /trunk/ make thread ID 64 bit (task ID is 64 bit already)
cleanup thread syscalls

2183 6311 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Continue to de-oversynchronize the kernel.
- replace as->refcount with an atomic counter; accesses to this
reference counter are not to be done when the as->lock mutex is held;
this gets us rid of mutex_lock_active();

Remove the possibility of a deadlock between TLB shootdown and asidlock.
- get rid of mutex_lock_active() on as->lock
- when locking the asidlock spinlock, always do it conditionally and with
preemption disabled; in the unsuccessful case, enable interrupts and try again
- there should be no deadlock between TLB shootdown and the as->lock mutexes
- PLEASE REVIEW !!!

Add DEADLOCK_PROBE's to places where we have spinlock_trylock() loops.

2098 6377 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ avoid conflict with potential keyword
2071 6389 d 1 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
2064 6403 d 0 h vana /trunk/ SIMICS added as a simulator kernel runs on
1933 6481 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Implement efficient IPC notification cleanup.
1932 6481 d 1 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Do not copy notification config out of the IRQ structure.
Add the notify member, that toggles notifications on and off instead.
This is good for preventing other tasks from registering the notification
while the notification config is stored outside the IRQ structure.
It should also help to implement the cleanup code.

1923 6482 d 1 h jermar /trunk/ Replace the old IRQ dispatcher and IPC notifier with new implementation.
Note that all architectures except for sparc64 are now broken
and don't even compile.

1888 6514 d 4 h jermar /trunk/ C99 compliant header guards (hopefully) everywhere in the kernel.
Formatting and indentation changes.
Small improvements in sparc64.

1875 6521 d 2 h jermar /trunk/ sparc64 work.
- Changes to enable userspace keyboard drivers.
- Fix z8530 initialization (i.e. clear any pending Tx interrupts).
- Experimental support for framebuffers with inverted colors.

1787 6579 d 3 h decky / move kernel/trunk, uspace/trunk and boot/trunk to trunk/kernel, trunk/uspace and trunk/boot
1780 6586 d 4 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Replace old __u?? types with respective C99 variants (e.g. uint32_t, int64_t, uintptr_t etc.).
1757 6600 d 9 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Cleanup of comments.
1735 6602 d 11 h decky /kernel/trunk/ make kernel prints case consistent
1708 6604 d 10 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Fix some broken doxygen comments.
1705 6606 d 10 h cejka /kernel/trunk/ Added file with modules definitions and descriptions.
We are able to change modules order and their description in one place.

1702 6607 d 7 h cejka /kernel/trunk/ Kernel doxygen comments updated.
1698 6608 d 2 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/src/ipc/ Improve comments.
Replace 'process' with 'task'.

1693 6609 d 5 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Modified ipc/irq to be able to pass up to 3 arguments to userspace.
1669 6612 d 5 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/src/ipc/ Small consitency ipc update.
1628 6613 d 22 h decky /kernel/trunk/ fixes
1625 6613 d 23 h decky /kernel/trunk/ ppc32 uspace keyboard support
1595 6614 d 14 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Added kernel circular buffer klog.
Added automatic killing of tasks raising inappropriate exceptions.
TODO: Fix vsnprintf return value(and behaviour according to specs) and remove workaround in klog.

1591 6614 d 23 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Small updates to ipc.
1582 6615 d 11 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Modified ipc_cleanup.
1573 6616 d 4 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Renamed some things in IPC to be consistent.
Added ipc reporting to kconsole.

1568 6616 d 6 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Slightly remodelled ipc hangups to facilitate correct cleanup.
Doc updates for frame allocator.

1507 6618 d 7 h vana /kernel/trunk/ IA64 uspace keyboard kernel part
1502 6618 d 9 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Replace nonblocking argument of waitq_sleep_timeout with flags that specify mode of operation.
Now a flag can be used to specify interruptible sleep.
Modify waitq_interrupt_sleep() to only interrupt threads that used this flag.

1461 6620 d 7 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Slightly changed semantics of AS_AREA_SEND/RECV.
1434 6623 d 3 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Added 'realtime' clock interface.
Added some asm macros as memory barriers.
Added drift computing for mips platform.

1428 6623 d 23 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Added 256K slab, so that AMD can boot (until ELF loader is fixed).
Added AS_AREA_RECV so that the caller can receive AS_AREA.

1417 6626 d 0 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Modify as_area_share() to accept destination area flags bitmask from the sender
(i.e. the sender can limit access mode to the shared area for the recipient).
Modify IPC_M_AS_AREA_SEND code to support this. Arguments for sender: arg1=as_area,
arg2=size, arg3=flags_mask.

The mechanism seems to work, but the page fault handlers need to be altered to
distinguish between faults under different access modes.

1413 6627 d 0 h jermar /kernel/trunk/generic/ Reimplement memory sharing. Currently, only
anonymous address space areas can be shared.
