4581 5454 d 19 h mejdrech /branches/network/ Net: synchronized with trunk rev.4580
4327 5518 d 4 h mejdrech /branches/network/ Net: *merged with trunk 4326, +ne2k irq debug
4153 5555 d 17 h mejdrech /branches/network/ Networking: merged with trunk changes
3386 5751 d 20 h decky /branches/network/ add new network branch (copy of current trunk)
3370 5758 d 16 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Synchronous IPC must be interruptible.
3332 5769 d 23 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ Fix types when processing IPC_M_DATA_WRITE arguments.
3054 5843 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ proper printf formatting
3020 5849 d 16 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Turn phone->lock into mutex.
2934 5862 d 18 h jermar /trunk/ Do not attempt to malloc() zero bytes of memory during VFS_READ at end of file.
2745 5941 d 1 h decky /trunk/ code cleanup (mostly signed/unsigned)
allow extra compiler warnings

2677 5998 d 20 h jermar /trunk/ Rename IPC_M_AS_AREA_SEND to IPC_M_SHARE_OUT. Rename IPC_M_AS_AREA_RECV to
IPC_M_SHARE_IN. Provide user-friendly wrappers for these methods so that even
dummies can get it right. Some applications using simpler protocols still use
these methods directly.

2676 5999 d 3 h jermar /trunk/ Simplify the IPC_M_DATA_WRITE protocol. Do not pass the source address space
virtual address to the recipient. This feature was not used anyway. Now
IPC_M_DATA_WRITE and IPC_M_DATA_READ are feature-aligned.

2662 6006 d 15 h jermar /trunk/ Add support for IPC_M_DATA_READ calls.
2661 6006 d 17 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ Release the IPC_M_DATA_WRITE buffer even if the write is refused by the
recipient.

2660 6006 d 17 h jermar /trunk/ Rename IPC_M_DATA_SEND to IPC_M_DATA_WRITE. Now, when we also add
IPC_M_DATA_READ, it will not clash and cause confusion with userspace wrappers
such as ipc_data_receive(). Rename the forementioned wrappers to
ipc_data_write_send(), ipc_data_write_receive() and ipc_data_write_deliver().

2638 6025 d 16 h jermar /trunk/ Sync IPC comments with IPC code.
2637 6025 d 17 h cejka /trunk/ Extended IPC_M_CONNECT_TO_ME to use 3 user defined parameters.
Phone identifier is passed in ARG5.

2636 6027 d 16 h jermar /trunk/ Update comments wrt the previous commit.
Minor formatting fixes.

2635 6027 d 17 h cejka /trunk/ Function ipc_connect_me_to sends 3 user defined arguments now.
One argument added also to ipc_forward_fast.
Fixed devmap and improved its test.

2622 6035 d 23 h jermar /trunk/ Add mode argument to IPC forward.
This argument can be used to modify the way forward behaves.

2620 6038 d 4 h jermar /trunk/ Be more deterministic when a user accidently uses fast version of IPC
call/answer instead of the full one and passes fewer arguments than required by
the recipient of the call/response.

and the recipient interprets arguments that
were actually not passed by the sender.

2619 6039 d 15 h jermar /trunk/ Modify ipc_answer_*() to make use of all six syscall arguments. The recommended
means of answering calls is via the ipc_answer_m() macros (where m denotes the
number of return arguments) that automatically decide between the fast register
version or the slow universal version of ipc_answer().

2618 6040 d 4 h jermar /trunk/ Modify asynchronous IPC to make use of all six syscall arguments. The preferred
means of asynchronous communication is now via the set of ipc_call_async_m()
macros, where m is the number of payload arguments passed to the kernel. These
macros will automatically decide between the fast and the universal slow version
of ipc_call_async.

2617 6040 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ STRUCT_TO_USPACE may fail in sys_ipc_call_sync_fast.
2615 6041 d 0 h jermar /trunk/ Modify synchronous IPC to make use of all six syscall arguments. The preferred
means of synchronous communication is now via the set of ipc_call_sync_m_n()
macros, where m is the number of payload arguments passed to the kernel and n is
the number of return values. These macros will automatically decide between the
fast and the universal slow version of ipc_call_sync.

2601 6048 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ Fix and improve two IPC related comments.
2557 6092 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/src/ipc/ Enable forwarding of IPC_M_AS_AREA_SEND, IPC_M_AS_AREA_RECV, IPC_M_DATA_SEND
calls. In order to prevent the forwarder from cloberring the call data (i.e.
source and destination address, and size) by treating these three methods as
immutable on forward. This feature is experimental, but has huge benefits in
that it can significantly reduce the amount of data sharing (the middle man need
not modify its address space mappings) or the amount of data copying (the middle
man need not receive the data from the sender and then resend them to the next
recipient). As a result, it can reduce N such calls for a communication channel
with N tasks along the way to 1 such call.

2556 6092 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Rename as_get_size() to as_area_get_size() and add a doxygen comment.
2494 6171 d 16 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Implement a new mechanism for copying data between two address spaces based on
IPC. New system method IPC_M_DATA_SEND is introduced. The implementation is
generic and does not make use of any possible architecture optimizations such as
direct copy from one address space to another.

2471 6195 d 17 h jermar /trunk/ Greatly improve comments in the IPC layer.
Now I think I finally start to understand our IPC internals :-)

2359 6226 d 2 h jermar /trunk/ Improve comments for the IPC subsystem.
Fix formatting and indentation.

2098 6334 d 19 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ avoid conflict with potential keyword
2071 6346 d 16 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
1923 6439 d 16 h jermar /trunk/ Replace the old IRQ dispatcher and IPC notifier with new implementation.
Note that all architectures except for sparc64 are now broken
and don't even compile.

1875 6478 d 17 h jermar /trunk/ sparc64 work.
- Changes to enable userspace keyboard drivers.
- Fix z8530 initialization (i.e. clear any pending Tx interrupts).
- Experimental support for framebuffers with inverted colors.

1787 6536 d 18 h decky / move kernel/trunk, uspace/trunk and boot/trunk to trunk/kernel, trunk/uspace and trunk/boot
1780 6543 d 20 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Replace old __u?? types with respective C99 variants (e.g. uint32_t, int64_t, uintptr_t etc.).
1757 6558 d 0 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Cleanup of comments.
1702 6564 d 22 h cejka /kernel/trunk/ Kernel doxygen comments updated.
1693 6566 d 20 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/generic/ Modified ipc/irq to be able to pass up to 3 arguments to userspace.
