4439 5604 d 7 h trochtova /branches/dd/ dd branch synchronized with trunk (revision 4438)
4425 5611 d 5 h svoboda /trunk/ Move ramdisk under bd.
4416 5611 d 17 h decky /trunk/uspace/ improve devmap interface
remove spared device

4413 5612 d 12 h decky /trunk/uspace/ add space before $@
4410 5613 d 3 h svoboda /trunk/uspace/srv/rd/ Fix type definition.
4401 5614 d 5 h svoboda /trunk/uspace/ C binding for devmap. Gets rid of duplicate code.
4400 5614 d 7 h svoboda /trunk/uspace/ Rename ramdisk protocol -> block device protocol.
4374 5621 d 5 h jermar /trunk/uspace/srv/rd/ Create a second RD device called "spared".
This is for testing purposes.

4264 5653 d 3 h svoboda /trunk/uspace/ Nuke strcpy() and strcmp().
4005 5691 d 7 h decky /trunk/uspace/srv/rd/ blocking connection to device mapper
3908 5705 d 6 h decky /trunk/ overhaul pareas: use one single physical area for the physical address space not belonging to physical memory
3882 5709 d 4 h decky /trunk/uspace/ cleanup configuration
code cleanup

3803 5732 d 6 h decky /trunk/ configuration system overhaul (requires newt)
3699 5769 d 13 h svoboda /trunk/uspace/ Clean .o files in individual makefiles.
3568 5805 d 13 h svoboda /trunk/uspace/ Always include Makefile.config instead of passing ARCH and COMPILER to child make on the command line. Allows running make on individual apps and allows more configuration options.
3254 5897 d 10 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ Stop using fixed size BLOCK_SIZE in the ramdisk task and allow each client to negotiate its own
maximum block size. Allow the individual transfers to use block sizes smaller and equal to the
negotiated maximum block size.

3201 5933 d 11 h svoboda /trunk/uspace/ Do not disassemble needlessly.
3085 5963 d 9 h decky /trunk/uspace/srv/rd/ devmap support, small fixes
3081 5963 d 9 h decky /trunk/uspace/srv/ remove __entry_driver entry points
2678 6118 d 7 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ The IPC_M_SHARE_* and IPC_M_DATA_* calls pass through 3 stages. Rename the send,
receive and deliver wrappers to names ending with 'start', 'receive' and
'finalize', respectively. This should make it clearer for dummies.

2677 6118 d 8 h jermar /trunk/ Rename IPC_M_AS_AREA_SEND to IPC_M_SHARE_OUT. Rename IPC_M_AS_AREA_RECV to
IPC_M_SHARE_IN. Provide user-friendly wrappers for these methods so that even
dummies can get it right. Some applications using simpler protocols still use
these methods directly.

2637 6145 d 4 h cejka /trunk/ Extended IPC_M_CONNECT_TO_ME to use 3 user defined parameters.
Phone identifier is passed in ARG5.

2619 6159 d 3 h jermar /trunk/ Modify ipc_answer_*() to make use of all six syscall arguments. The recommended
means of answering calls is via the ipc_answer_m() macros (where m denotes the
number of return arguments) that automatically decide between the fast register
version or the slow universal version of ipc_answer().

2518 6228 d 4 h jermar /trunk/uspace/ One occurrence of the left-over term 'pseudo thread' replaced with 'fibril' in
the rd task.

Start the vfs task. Now it is dummy, but integrated into the sources.

2479 6309 d 11 h jermar /trunk/ New, better-structured, directory layout for uspace.
2478 6311 d 7 h jermar /trunk/uspace/rd/ Add sanity checks for reads and writes that occur past the end of the
ramdisk image.

2475 6312 d 4 h jermar /trunk/uspace/rd/ Improve the rd task (not tested):
- allow more connections
- support write operation
- support concurrent requests
- sanity checks
- add comments

Please review.

2471 6315 d 5 h jermar /trunk/ Greatly improve comments in the IPC layer.
Now I think I finally start to understand our IPC internals :-)

2449 6330 d 15 h decky /trunk/uspace/rd/ remove unnecessary includes
2445 6331 d 10 h decky /trunk/ initial merge of branches/fs
(not finished, huge cleanup is needed)

2141 6397 d 1 h jermar /trunk/ The Ultimate Solution To Illegal Virtual Aliases.
It is better to avoid them completely than to fight them.
Switch the sparc64 port to 16K pages. The TLBs and TSBs
continue to operate with 8K pages only. Page tables and
other generic parts operate with 16K pages.

Because the MMU doesn't support 16K directly, each 16K
page is emulated by a pair of 8K pages. With 16K pages,
illegal aliases cannot be created in 16K D-cache.

2071 6466 d 4 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
2015 6505 d 4 h jermar /trunk/ Rework support for virtually indexed cache.
Instead of repeatedly flushing the data cache, which was a huge overkill, refuse to create an illegal address alias
in the kernel (again) and allocate appropriate page color in userspace instead. Extend the detection also to
SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP syscall.

Add support for tracking physical memory areas mappable by SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP.

Lots of coding style changes.

2012 6508 d 2 h jermar /trunk/ Eliminate confusion between SYS_MAP_PHYSMEM and sys_physmem_map.
The syscall is to be called SYS_PHYSMEM_MAP from now on and the functions that participate in its implementation are
called *physmem_map().

2005 6514 d 9 h decky /trunk/ update rd
1999 6516 d 13 h decky /trunk/ start RAM disk support
