4490 5483 d 0 h decky /trunk/kernel/ remove redundant index_t and count_t types (which were always quite ambiguous and not actually needed)
3983 5577 d 4 h svoboda /trunk/ task_set_name() syscall so that we can have names (for userspace-loaded) tasks again.
3896 5591 d 19 h svoboda /trunk/ More elegant way of invoking the loader - as a 'cloneable' service. Task names functionality lost for the time being.
3620 5675 d 8 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/generic/ Move stuff related to kbox to a separate struct.
3566 5690 d 9 h svoboda /trunk/ Set meaningful names for loaded programs. Now 'tasks' kconsole command is much less obscure.
3565 5690 d 20 h svoboda /trunk/ Fix sys_thread_create(): could fail when passed name was at end of mapping, could crash if provided name was not null-terminated.
3438 5742 d 7 h svoboda /trunk/ Merge syscall tracer (trace) and relevant part of udebug interface from tracing to trunk.
3222 5813 d 3 h svoboda /trunk/ Merge program-loader related stuff from dynload branch to trunk. (huge)
3068 5848 d 4 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/include/ reflect changes in sources
2926 5867 d 9 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/include/proc/ cs change
2746 5945 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/ start merging tasklets (more or less a rewrite)
2504 6158 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Give the AVL tree walkers the possibility to take an argument.
Each walker is now supposed to return a bool value to support walk termination.

Switch over from the tasks_btree B+tree to tasks_tree AVL tree.
This makes the fix for ticket #48 complete.

2502 6158 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Replace the threads_btree B+tree with an AVL tree. The new variable is called
threads_tree. For printing list of threads, use the new AVL tree walker
mechanism.

This solves half of ticket #48.

2451 6212 d 23 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ JoinMe -> Lingering
2446 6216 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ More efficient and simpler task termination.

Based on the assumption, that after its creation, only the task itself can create more threads for itself,
the last thread with userspace context to execute thread_exit() will perform futex and IPC cleanup. When
the task has no threads, it is destroyed. Both the cleanup and destruction is controlled by reference
counting.

As for userspace threads, even though there could be a global garbage collector for joining threads, it is
much simpler if the uinit thread detaches itself before switching to userspace.

task_kill() is now an idempotent operation. It just instructs the threads within a task to exit.

Change in the name of a thread state: Undead -> JoinMe.

2440 6216 d 22 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Fix the problem with sys_thread_create() by splitting the create and attach functionality of
thread_create(). Now it is possible to specify a flag that will cause thread_create() to only allocate and
initialize the thread structure. A call to thread_attach() will make the thread visible to the system.
This arrangement makes it easier to undo creation of a thread in case of a failure in sys_thread_create().

2268 6260 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Document and assert proper usage of THREAD_FLAG_WIRED.
Original patch by Jan Hudecek.

2227 6269 d 13 h decky /trunk/kernel/ start shutdown infrastructure
2216 6270 d 23 h decky /trunk/ make thread ID 64 bit (task ID is 64 bit already)
cleanup thread syscalls

2187 6272 d 6 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ add syscall for getting current thread ID
2109 6333 d 8 h jermar /trunk/kernel/generic/ Revert thread_interrupt_sleep() to waitq_interrupt_sleep().
I'd prefer that this, IMO, waitq related stuff stays together.

2106 6334 d 6 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Merge as_t structure into one and leave the differring parts in as_genarch_t.

Indentation and formatting changes in header files.

2105 6338 d 6 h decky /trunk/kernel/ move ipc structures to ipc.h
2103 6338 d 23 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/include/ move timeout_t to timeout.h
move other helper types to thread.h

2096 6339 d 1 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/include/ move thread_t to thread.h
2093 6339 d 2 h decky /trunk/kernel/ spinlock extern declaration macro
2092 6339 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/include/ move cpu_t to cpu.h
2090 6340 d 2 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/include/proc/ cleanup garbage
2089 6340 d 6 h decky /trunk/ huge type system cleanup

2080 6346 d 7 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/include/ another typedef to anonymous enum
2071 6350 d 23 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
2042 6385 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/ introduce uncounted threads, whose accounting doesn't affect accumulated task accounting
run tests in kconsole thread again

2039 6385 d 7 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/ accumulate task accounting, run tests as separate kernel task
2031 6386 d 7 h decky /trunk/kernel/generic/include/proc/ fix comment

1888 6476 d 2 h jermar /trunk/ C99 compliant header guards (hopefully) everywhere in the kernel.
Formatting and indentation changes.
Small improvements in sparc64.

1854 6492 d 8 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Define architecture-specific thread sub-constructors and sub-destructors on all architectures.
Define the THREAD_FLAG_USPACE which means that the thread runs in user space.
The forementioned changes allow for allocating of user window buffer on sparc64
threads that execute in userspace.

A lot of formatting and indentation fixes.
