3790 5634 d 2 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Make newlines in panic messages consistent. Add periods at end of messages so that it is obvious whether they are printed entirely.
3788 5634 d 15 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Unify newlines in fault_if_from_uspace() format strings. (Remove them and print newline automatically). Also start messages with caps.
3749 5646 d 14 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/trap/ Support for preemptible syscalls on sparc64.
3740 5647 d 22 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Fix typo.
3736 5649 d 0 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ refresh kernel console during grab on sparc64
3714 5655 d 22 h decky /trunk/kernel/ do not waist resources if no keyboard driver is used
3679 5666 d 14 h rimsky /trunk/ Added forgotten stuff related to framebuffers with offsets. Got rid of VISUAL_SB1500_PALETTE.
3672 5667 d 18 h jermar /trunk/ Merge sparc branch to trunk.
3655 5673 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Add additional members to the irq_t structure so that an interrupt-driven driver
does not need to know how to clear the level interrupt. The z8530 was modified
in this way and is much more generic. The ns16550 driver has also been modified,
but awaits testing. The sparc64 interrupt mapping and dispatch code is now using
the new info and calls the clear-interrupt-routine itself.

3654 5673 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ After my effort yesterday, there are two rival psycho drivers.
Merge the two and remove the newer one.

3649 5674 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/drivers/ More work on the psycho driver.
3647 5674 d 17 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Improvized Psycho driver.
3646 5674 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Initial support for interrupt driven driver for ns16550.
3577 5692 d 6 h vana /trunk/kernel/ Support for serial port console on IA64 as a compensation for keyboard - based on SPARC ns16550 driver
3482 5731 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Do not allocate full page for the uspace window buffer.
Instead, allocate only the bare minimum to fit NWINDOWS - 1
uspace windows and to satisfy alignment requirements.

3463 5743 d 23 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Populate all sparc64 trap table slots belonging to trap_instruction_n.
3458 5744 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/trap/ Add sparc64 trap table entries so that the maximum syscall number is 0x40.
3274 5784 d 23 h jermar /trunk/ memcpy(), memmove() and similar functions return dst instead of src.
Fix all implementations, including those in assembly. ppc32 assembly
version didn't seem to be affected by this.

3222 5817 d 22 h svoboda /trunk/ Merge program-loader related stuff from dynload branch to trunk. (huge)
3133 5842 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Add smc_coherence() macro to all architectures.
So far, only amd64, ia32, ia64 and sparc64 are implemented.

3104 5850 d 7 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Declare arguments for memstr.h operations as pointers instead of uintptr_t.
3071 5852 d 23 h decky /trunk/kernel/ reflect changes in generic code
proper formatting directives
coding style

2860 5901 d 18 h cejka /trunk/ Context handling unified for sparc64.
2745 5950 d 2 h decky /trunk/ code cleanup (mostly signed/unsigned)
allow extra compiler warnings

2725 5971 d 0 h decky /trunk/kernel/ remove config.memory_size, get_memory_size() and memory_init.{c|d}
the amount of available memory can be calculated from the sizes of the zones
add FRAMES2SIZE, SIZE2KB and SIZE2MB functions/macros (code readability)

2610 6052 d 22 h jermar /trunk/ Support for six syscall arguments for sparc64.
There is a minor stability issue which needs to be fixed (kernel panics upon entering kconsole from the
console task).

2510 6124 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Experimental support for the cgsix framebuffer, which is found on old Ultra 1
worksations, and the SBUS bus and devices. Not tested.

2462 6215 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Replace gcc-specific __FUNCTION__ with C99 __func__.
suncc's xregs=no%float can be used only on sparc64.

2272 6263 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Indentation and formatting fixes.
2267 6265 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/mm/ Fix indentation.
2266 6265 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/mm/ Add few assertions to tsb.c and clean it up a little bit.
2252 6267 d 17 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/mm/ Move one MEMBAR instruction from a delay slot,
which is, due to SF Erratum #51, a potentionally
dangerous place for a MEMBAR to be.

2231 6273 d 22 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/ Fix a nasty bug in the TLB miss handlers on sparc64.
After we no longer lock the kernel stack in the DTLB,
there is a real danger of nested DTLB misses. The nested
miss can very easily clobber the DTLB Tag Access register.
Therefore, the original miss may not read this register, but
it has to receive its value as an argument. The argument
value is saved in the trap table when it is guaranteed that
the nested TLB miss will not occur.

2228 6274 d 0 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/ Fix ticket #28.
In switch_to_userspace(), the uarg argument is in %i2, not in %i3.

2227 6274 d 8 h decky /trunk/kernel/ start shutdown infrastructure
2170 6282 d 16 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Simplify synchronization in as_switch().
The function was oversynchronized, which
was causing deadlocks on the address
space mutex.

Now, address spaces can only be switched
when the asidlock is held. This also protects
stealing of ASIDs. No other synchronization
is necessary.

2161 6284 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/mm/ Fix TSB bug during TSB refill.
When one wants to enable a TSB entry, he or she should set the
entry invalid bit to false, as opposed to setting it to true.

2144 6285 d 16 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/sparc64/src/mm/ Fix TSB size.
2141 6286 d 15 h jermar /trunk/ The Ultimate Solution To Illegal Virtual Aliases.
It is better to avoid them completely than to fight them.
Switch the sparc64 port to 16K pages. The TLBs and TSBs
continue to operate with 8K pages only. Page tables and
other generic parts operate with 16K pages.

Because the MMU doesn't support 16K directly, each 16K
page is emulated by a pair of 8K pages. With 16K pages,
illegal aliases cannot be created in 16K D-cache.

2134 6287 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Reworked handling of illegal virtual aliases caused by frame reuse.
We moved the incomplete handling from backend's frame method to
backend's page_fault method. The page_fault method is the one that
can create an illegal alias if it writes the userspace frame using
kernel address with a different page color than the page to which is
this frame mapped in userspace. When we detect this, we do D-cache
shootdown on all processors (!!!).

If we add code that accesses userspace memory from kernel address
space, we will have to check for illegal virtual aliases at all such
places.

I tested this on a 4-way simulated E6500 and a real-world Ultra 5,
which has unfortunatelly only one processor.

This solves ticket #26.
