4137 5581 d 18 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Make optionality of symbol information less intrusive per Jakub's request. Also, improve symtab function names and update their semantics.
4132 5582 d 16 h svoboda /trunk/ Make kernel symbol information optional.
4123 5586 d 4 h decky /trunk/ bring back kernel HID on ppc32
this concludes the transition from chardev_t to indev_t and outdev_t

4030 5594 d 16 h svoboda /trunk/ Init-task names for ppc32.
4023 5595 d 17 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/arch/ Unify arch_pre_main() comments.
4021 5595 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ There is no need to define ioport{8,16,32}_t types for each architecture separately.
3973 5600 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/ kernel memory management revisited (phase 2): map physical memory according to zones
- ia32: register reserved and ACPI zones
- pareas are now used only for mapping of present physical memory (hw_area() is gone)
- firmware zones and physical addresses outside any zones are allowed to be mapped generally
- fix nasty antient bug in zones_insert_zone()

3957 5605 d 17 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/ Unbreak ppc32 candidate.
3956 5605 d 17 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/include/ Add missing PIO functions to ppc32.
3941 5606 d 17 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Let IRQ claim methods take irq_t * instead of the instance argument.
3940 5606 d 21 h decky /trunk/kernel/ make hw_area API more generic
this allows mapping of EGA VRAM on ia32/amd64

3929 5607 d 16 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Introduce ioport8_t, ioport16_t and ioport32_t. These types are to be used with
pio_read_n() and pio_write_n() functions. This breaks everything.

3922 5609 d 16 h decky /trunk/ make arch_pre_main optional, don't force any specific prototype
simplify boot process
mips32: detect number of configured CPUs in msim

3908 5610 d 20 h decky /trunk/ overhaul pareas: use one single physical area for the physical address space not belonging to physical memory
3906 5611 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ IRQ handlers are using one superfluous argument and an unused elipsis.
On the other hand, IRQ claim functions would need to be passed the instance
argument.

3902 5611 d 23 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Introduce a more platform-neutral name for programmed I/O.

The new API looks like pio_read_n() or pio_write_n(), where n is 8, 16 or 32.
The old API (i.e. inb(), inw(), inl(), outb() outw(), outl()) may have made
some people think that the interface is only to be used with the separate I/O
space. That's not the case. This API is to be implemented on all platforms
so that we can finally have really generic kernel device drivers.

3880 5614 d 18 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ simplify configuration
introduce arch_construct_function and inb/outb (sometimes empty) on all platforms
various code cleanup

3879 5614 d 18 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ simplify configuration in Makefiles
3878 5614 d 18 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ introduce fncptr_t and ioport_t on all platforms
3857 5624 d 20 h decky /trunk/ very experimental TLB refill for ppc32
3856 5624 d 22 h decky /trunk/ ppc32: strict coherency, compatible TLB flush
3855 5625 d 1 h decky /trunk/ flush cache during image copying
3844 5626 d 17 h decky /trunk/ silent kernel console output when user space console is active
3841 5626 d 21 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/ it is essential to setup the decrementer before potential rescheduling
3839 5627 d 1 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/mm/ respect stricker lookup algorithm (first look for colliding PTEs, then look for unused PTEs)
3838 5627 d 1 h decky /trunk/kernel/ make RANDI a generic macro
3837 5627 d 1 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/ use pseudorandom generator to avoid even the longest path of livelock collisions
3836 5627 d 2 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/mm/ use secondary hash for kernel identity mapping to avoid livelocks on colliding PHT addresses
3833 5627 d 21 h decky /trunk/ avoid nasty race condition during page fault handling
3830 5628 d 20 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/ ppc32: add support for cache disable page access control
3829 5628 d 21 h decky /trunk/ use macio optionally
3827 5628 d 22 h decky /trunk/ remove tlbia instruction, which is unsupported by PowerPC 7450
3790 5650 d 2 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Make newlines in panic messages consistent. Add periods at end of messages so that it is obvious whether they are printed entirely.
3788 5650 d 15 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/ Unify newlines in fault_if_from_uspace() format strings. (Remove them and print newline automatically). Also start messages with caps.
3738 5665 d 0 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/ redraw kernel cosnole on ppc32
3672 5683 d 18 h jermar /trunk/ Merge sparc branch to trunk.
3594 5700 d 18 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/mm/ Handle page faults from userspace properly on ppc32, do not panic.
3586 5706 d 2 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Do not print "Page fault.\n" if a mapping is not found during TLB refill.
3585 5706 d 3 h svoboda /trunk/ Fix bug #67. It was obviously all my fault - I allocated r3 for pcb_ptr, which was alredy used by uarg.
3584 5706 d 4 h svoboda /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/mm/ Bugfix: A ppc32 task would hang if it touched unmapped memory - was calling printf() with address-space mutex held.
