2797 5894 d 6 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Each architecture should only announce its endianity.
The conversion macros should be defined only once.

2794 5895 d 6 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Add macros for byte swapping of uint16_t's.
2781 5913 d 13 h cejka /trunk/ Unified context saving/restoring macros in ppc32.
2725 5951 d 12 h decky /trunk/kernel/ remove config.memory_size, get_memory_size() and memory_init.{c|d}
the amount of available memory can be calculated from the sizes of the zones
add FRAMES2SIZE, SIZE2KB and SIZE2MB functions/macros (code readability)

2723 5952 d 10 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ remove memory_print_map(), as it duplicates functionality of physmem_print()
2721 5952 d 12 h decky /trunk/kernel/ convert e820list to a generic physmem command
2467 6189 d 8 h jermar /trunk/ Improve comments for arch-specific implementations of hierarchical
4-level page tables. Improve formatting.

2465 6194 d 11 h jermar /trunk/ Merge arm32 into trunk.
2454 6197 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ A bit of infrastructure for building with different compilers.
CFLAGS split into GCC_CFLAGS and SUNCC_CFLAGS.
As of now, there are no separate ICC_CFLAGS, but can be easily added.

2227 6254 d 20 h decky /trunk/kernel/ start shutdown infrastructure
2222 6255 d 5 h decky /trunk/kernel/ map kernel pages explicitly as writable (this solves compatibility issues with Intel Core 2)
make VESA framebuffer initialization more robust

2218 6256 d 2 h decky /trunk/kernel/ support the possibility to send EOI or Interrupt Acknowledgement
prior to processing the interrupt
(this is essential on some architectures to prevent preemption deadlock)

2216 6256 d 6 h decky /trunk/ make thread ID 64 bit (task ID is 64 bit already)
cleanup thread syscalls

2170 6263 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Simplify synchronization in as_switch().
The function was oversynchronized, which
was causing deadlocks on the address
space mutex.

Now, address spaces can only be switched
when the asidlock is held. This also protects
stealing of ASIDs. No other synchronization
is necessary.

2125 6311 d 6 h decky /trunk/ experimental support for Objective C
(disabled by default)

2089 6325 d 13 h decky /trunk/ huge type system cleanup
remove cyclical type dependencies across multiple header files
many minor coding style fixes

2083 6331 d 12 h decky /trunk/kernel/ typedef elimination
2079 6332 d 7 h decky /trunk/kernel/ remove some typedefs in favor of anonymous structures
2071 6336 d 5 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
2057 6363 d 17 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Fix all remaining mistmatches in width of byte swapping functions for ia64,
ppc32, ppc64, amd64, mips32 and ia32.

2033 6371 d 12 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/include/ get_cycle() for PPC32
2023 6373 d 6 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ add dummy cycle.h
2007 6383 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Introduce page colors. So far, only sparc64 uses correct page color bits. Other architectures have a dummy define
specifying zero bits for a page color.

There is a new check of page color in as_area_share(). Because of lack of support for this in the userspace, the
check has been #ifef'ed out.

2003 6384 d 10 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ cleanup endian conversion macros
1993 6392 d 13 h decky /trunk/ make framebuffer code more generic
1949 6423 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Remove notes about automatically generated context_offset.h
and replace it with a proper copyright notice.

1948 6423 d 16 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Remove broken, outdated and unused gencontext.c utilities.
1944 6426 d 8 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Add mutual exclusion to keyboard grab and release
functions on sparc64, ppc32, mips32 and ia64.

1934 6427 d 17 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc32/src/drivers/ remove grab (not needed)
1932 6428 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Do not copy notification config out of the IRQ structure.
Add the notify member, that toggles notifications on and off instead.
This is good for preventing other tasks from registering the notification
while the notification config is stored outside the IRQ structure.
It should also help to implement the cleanup code.

1928 6428 d 11 h decky /trunk/ ppc32: update for new IRQ subsystem (there is still a bug left)
1926 6428 d 16 h decky /trunk/kernel/ cleanup for new IRQ subsystem
1901 6449 d 11 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Make SMP related parts of main.c more generic.
Move initialization of local APIC to architecture specific code.
Add arch_post_cpu_init() to support the above.

1891 6457 d 4 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ sparc64 work:
- Experimental support for TSB (Translation Storage Buffer).

1890 6457 d 14 h jermar /trunk/ - Create a dedicated slab cache for as_t objects and switch from malloc/free to slab_alloc/slab_free for
them.

- Slightly fix and improve both the kernel and userspace atomic_add() on sparc64.

- More TSB work on the sparc64 front.

1889 6458 d 6 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Fix bug in mm/as.c:
- as_area_destroy() should not work with AS but as

sparc64 work:
- start implementing TSB support

1888 6461 d 9 h jermar /trunk/ C99 compliant header guards (hopefully) everywhere in the kernel.
Formatting and indentation changes.
Small improvements in sparc64.

1882 6462 d 13 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Support for sparc64 FPU context.
1854 6477 d 15 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Define architecture-specific thread sub-constructors and sub-destructors on all architectures.
Define the THREAD_FLAG_USPACE which means that the thread runs in user space.
The forementioned changes allow for allocating of user window buffer on sparc64
threads that execute in userspace.

A lot of formatting and indentation fixes.

1837 6502 d 18 h jermar /trunk/ Support 24bpp framebuffers with 4 pixelbytes (each pixel aligned on 32-bits).

At least on sparc64, the OpenFirmware linebytes property specifies the number
of pixels between consecutive scan lines of the display. Fix scanilne calculation,
including possible alignment.

Add note to 8bpp pixel functions pointing out drawbacks of that mode.
