2782 5947 d 19 h jermar /tags/0.3.0/ Tagging HelenOS 0.3.0.
2725 5989 d 2 h decky /trunk/kernel/ remove config.memory_size, get_memory_size() and memory_init.{c|d}
the amount of available memory can be calculated from the sizes of the zones
add FRAMES2SIZE, SIZE2KB and SIZE2MB functions/macros (code readability)

2723 5990 d 0 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ remove memory_print_map(), as it duplicates functionality of physmem_print()
2721 5990 d 2 h decky /trunk/kernel/ convert e820list to a generic physmem command
2467 6226 d 22 h jermar /trunk/ Improve comments for arch-specific implementations of hierarchical
4-level page tables. Improve formatting.

2465 6232 d 1 h jermar /trunk/ Merge arm32 into trunk.
2454 6234 d 19 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ A bit of infrastructure for building with different compilers.
CFLAGS split into GCC_CFLAGS and SUNCC_CFLAGS.
As of now, there are no separate ICC_CFLAGS, but can be easily added.

2227 6292 d 10 h decky /trunk/kernel/ start shutdown infrastructure
2222 6292 d 19 h decky /trunk/kernel/ map kernel pages explicitly as writable (this solves compatibility issues with Intel Core 2)
make VESA framebuffer initialization more robust

2218 6293 d 17 h decky /trunk/kernel/ support the possibility to send EOI or Interrupt Acknowledgement
prior to processing the interrupt
(this is essential on some architectures to prevent preemption deadlock)

2216 6293 d 20 h decky /trunk/ make thread ID 64 bit (task ID is 64 bit already)
cleanup thread syscalls

2170 6300 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Simplify synchronization in as_switch().
The function was oversynchronized, which
was causing deadlocks on the address
space mutex.

Now, address spaces can only be switched
when the asidlock is held. This also protects
stealing of ASIDs. No other synchronization
is necessary.

2125 6348 d 20 h decky /trunk/ experimental support for Objective C
(disabled by default)

2089 6363 d 3 h decky /trunk/ huge type system cleanup
remove cyclical type dependencies across multiple header files
many minor coding style fixes

2083 6369 d 3 h decky /trunk/kernel/ typedef elimination
2079 6369 d 21 h decky /trunk/kernel/ remove some typedefs in favor of anonymous structures
2071 6373 d 20 h jermar /trunk/ (c) versus (C)
2057 6401 d 7 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Fix all remaining mistmatches in width of byte swapping functions for ia64,
ppc32, ppc64, amd64, mips32 and ia32.

2023 6410 d 20 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ add dummy cycle.h
2007 6420 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Introduce page colors. So far, only sparc64 uses correct page color bits. Other architectures have a dummy define
specifying zero bits for a page color.

There is a new check of page color in as_area_share(). Because of lack of support for this in the userspace, the
check has been #ifef'ed out.

2003 6422 d 0 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ cleanup endian conversion macros
1993 6430 d 3 h decky /trunk/ make framebuffer code more generic
1949 6461 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/arch/ Remove notes about automatically generated context_offset.h
and replace it with a proper copyright notice.

1948 6461 d 6 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Remove broken, outdated and unused gencontext.c utilities.
1930 6466 d 0 h decky /trunk/kernel/arch/ppc64/ ppc64: make it compile again
1901 6487 d 1 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Make SMP related parts of main.c more generic.
Move initialization of local APIC to architecture specific code.
Add arch_post_cpu_init() to support the above.

1891 6494 d 18 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ sparc64 work:
- Experimental support for TSB (Translation Storage Buffer).

1890 6495 d 4 h jermar /trunk/ - Create a dedicated slab cache for as_t objects and switch from malloc/free to slab_alloc/slab_free for
them.

- Slightly fix and improve both the kernel and userspace atomic_add() on sparc64.

- More TSB work on the sparc64 front.

1889 6495 d 20 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Fix bug in mm/as.c:
- as_area_destroy() should not work with AS but as

sparc64 work:
- start implementing TSB support

1888 6498 d 23 h jermar /trunk/ C99 compliant header guards (hopefully) everywhere in the kernel.
Formatting and indentation changes.
Small improvements in sparc64.

1882 6500 d 3 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Support for sparc64 FPU context.
1854 6515 d 5 h jermar /trunk/kernel/ Define architecture-specific thread sub-constructors and sub-destructors on all architectures.
Define the THREAD_FLAG_USPACE which means that the thread runs in user space.
The forementioned changes allow for allocating of user window buffer on sparc64
threads that execute in userspace.

A lot of formatting and indentation fixes.

1837 6540 d 8 h jermar /trunk/ Support 24bpp framebuffers with 4 pixelbytes (each pixel aligned on 32-bits).

At least on sparc64, the OpenFirmware linebytes property specifies the number
of pixels between consecutive scan lines of the display. Fix scanilne calculation,
including possible alignment.

Add note to 8bpp pixel functions pointing out drawbacks of that mode.

1802 6558 d 15 h decky /trunk/ cleanup and unify the build system
1787 6563 d 22 h decky / move kernel/trunk, uspace/trunk and boot/trunk to trunk/kernel, trunk/uspace and trunk/boot
1780 6570 d 23 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Replace old __u?? types with respective C99 variants (e.g. uint32_t, int64_t, uintptr_t etc.).
1767 6579 d 6 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Remove unneeded FRAME_PANIC.
Fix some things broken by last commit.

1760 6582 d 0 h palkovsky /kernel/trunk/ Changed interface of frame_alloc/free to use address of frame instead of the pfn.
This makes it impossible to use >4GB of memory on 32-bit machines, but who cares...

1745 6586 d 19 h jermar /kernel/trunk/arch/ppc64/src/mm/ Make defunct ppc64 kernel compile again.
1731 6587 d 15 h jermar /kernel/trunk/ Updates in Doxygen-style comments.
Make architecture specific modules appear conditionally in the documentation.
Add time management module.
Improve names of other modules and sort module order
to be more like in the design documentation.
